New player here, I need some help.

Hey, guys, I'm new to the game and I need some help buying stuff for my character. I have 500 points, and a level 5 Shadow Character. I'm an FPS/TPS/RTS gamer, so I'm completely new to this genre. Any help would be appreciated.

Points from the shop? Extra stash tabs are the only thing that may help you in-game. The rest is cosmetic.
Take a look at this playlist first: ZiggyD's PoE beginner guides

When/if you'll need play-by-play examples, watch through his Beginner full playthrough series

Even though i have a background in ARPG's myself (been playing Diablo 1 & 2 for years), i've learned about 80% of how stuff works in PoE from these two playlists alone.

I'm sure others will be able to chip in the rest ;) As for those points you've mentioned, i guess you're meaning the currency for buying cosmetics and account features; like Parlias wrote, the by far most useful feature in the cash shop are the extra stash tabs (i'd recommend getting premium ones for the possibility of customization) but if you'd like to customize your characters, it's also advisable to look up which items you fancy and wait for a sale (there's a new item on sale every day).

Yeah. And which one(s) do you recommend? What is the difference between each one of them?

I also have a question about today's daily deal, does it increase the damage on the weapon it's used on, or just a cosmetic item?

Sorry if I'm asking too much questions, but as I said, I'm completely new to this genre.

Thanks, man. And yeah, I didn't know what items I should buy with them. I'm going to upgrade my existing stash tab to a premium one now. Do I need an extra premium stash tab, or is one enough? And I was wondering if today's deal of the day is worth buying?

No, it doesn't DO anything, aside from look cool. They give NO in-game benefit at all. Buy whatever ones you like.
The only bonus you can buy is more stash tabs to store items. If you play a lot this is quite helpful. You can't buy anything that improves your character in game. It is all cosmetic. Welcome to POE! It is F2P and not P2W.

Haha, yeah, I'm really enjoying the game. I didn't expect it to be this much fun. I upgraded my stash to a premium one for now, and I'll wait for tomorrow's DoTD.

Thanks for the help, guys.

Don't hurry, these effect will be available for some time (exept the daily deals of course).
Just play some days and watch the short videos in the shop, how those effects look like.

Stash-Tabs: I have 12, which is not much, but sufficient, if you're not a hoarder and play mostly one character at a time. Some have 80+ and still not enough ;)

I have close to 100 stash tabs... but after about 40 or so they stop becoming all that useful. It's nice to be able to waste space and not have to worry about it. I've got about 20 pages of currency alone that I'll probably never even use.

It's a show of support for GGG. It's not that big of an advantage.
