what does "self contained economy" mean?

The question is in reference to the info posted about the new 4 month challenge leagues.
Is this GGG's way of saying "self found" ?

Just like previous leagues, you wont be able to import items from outside the league. That makes their economy "self-contained". It's nothing new. It has nothing to do with self-found play. The "self" is a reference to the league... not to the players.

Good that you type the self-contained within "" because it is truly not self-contained. The standard economy affects the temporary ones due to specualation of how much an item is worth once it goes to standard.

The economy is not self-contained other than using GGG's very weird definition:P.

All you need to know is there's still an economy.
Nothing changes
Yeah thanks for clearing that up

Do people really care about how much an item is worth once it goes to standard if most of the challenge league players always play the new ones (and very rarely play standard?)

I think it has to do more with cross-league trading from standard to the temp leagues. Of course, that's against the rules, but hey, no one breaks those rules, amirite?

I'm sure that some do, and if anyone does, it affects the value of an item.

But that's not what they mean by self-contained. It doesn't mean that it's not influenced by outside forces. It means that the items in it are generated within it.
