Cloak of Defiance vs mana reservation and left over mana

hi lets say you have 4K mana but you run a couple of aura's and your left over mana is 300. mana regen rate is 400 with arctic armor level 20.
and your life pool is 3k ... how does the damage reduction work? .

lets say you get hit for 2K damage over arctic armor . how much of that is reduced and where is it taken from?

Does having aura's on mana take down the capacity to take damage making the cloak of defiance effectively weak ?

As Panini said - with 300 unreserved mana only, you are completely wasting the Cloak of Defiance. You either need to drop an Aura or two, or get a better EVA/ES Armor and drop the Cloak.

I have an EB/MoM build that runs Grace and Clarity, and still has 1800 mana unreserved. So it can be done, you are just over -aura'd.

It depends on how fast you're being hit, and if you're trying to deflate lots of small hits, or mitigate 1 large one.

Having a big reserve pool is great for the huge 1-shots, but having a hellafied mana regen is what you want if you're trying to duck a bunch of small shots. Frankly, having 400 reserved with a 400+ mana regen pool will work for 90% of the situations. Where it'll fail, will be the Brutus slams, the Touch of God, and so forth.
