Alt F4 is Cheating? - Solutions!

From a "Hardcore" perspective, it certainly feels wrong. But GGG own the game, they make the rules, and their opinion here has been clearly stated.

Also Legacy Items and Desync are clearly stated, but that doesn't mean it's a good thing.

Alt+f4 is a windows command, not a game command. If the client suddenly disconnects from the server the server removes your character from the instance as soon as possible. The server doesn't know if you altf4ed, your internet went out, the client crashed, whatever.

"Removing" altf4 would mean your character not safely exiting the instance when other types of disconnects occur. Losing hardcore characters to random crappy disconnects would suck. It is doubly important since GGG wants to have competitive racing.

I think it is pussy and don't do it. I also had to watch my 1month character get stun-locked and killed by blackguards in cruel barracks, just hoping my cws cold snap would save me, all the time in the world to quit if I wanted to.

But don't act like it is only a hardcore thing, softcore maps are full of people that altf4.

but balance the game on the alt+f4 is a very bad compromise, don't you think?

Personally, I've never had problems, when I die, I die, I will go with a more tanky build, or I will pay more attention.

Say that the game is balanced on alt+f4 is stupid.

Bosses and hard mobs are simply skipped, when they are too hard.

What I do in HC, when I don't want to take a risk, I don't enter a dangerous zone, or I can use a portal scroll.

That GGG statement is stupid, that is my opinion of course.

If alt f4 didnt exist, YOUR CHARACTER WOULD STAY LOGGED IN FOR A WHILE AFTER YOU LOSE INTERNET OR LOGG OFF. So no matter what, if you d/c you're character would be dead. No matter what.

not true, there are ways they can get around that. they can force alt+f4 to do something other than the windows command, such as go to the escape menu. in fact, the code for it (in java at least) is really easy, some grade 12 shit right there -

The OS can force kill the process.

hmm OP posting in a Thread about GGG endorsing Alt F4 back in 2013.

Somehow I think he should know about GGGs stance on the matter.
