" Truth. Having a cool, matter-of-fact physician do the exam helps, and it's over very quickly (assuming there's nothing to find). Teh missus, who always sits in on my exams, found it fascinating. I earned a bit of a rep as a tough guy when I refused meds for my Colonoscopy. Aside from the fact that I abhor IVs, I wanted to be coherent enough to watch the exam on the monitor. The doc (a GI specialist, who has also done my Gastroscopy), seemed to enjoy the opportunity to narrate the travelogue.
