Can't select a character?
Before resorting to the actual forums, I searched for a solution on google, however, after a couple of days searching, I gave up.
The problem i'm having is, Path of Exile loads up normally. I log in, and select a character. However, this is where the problem starts: as soon as I select the character, I go into the loading screen, and it boots me right back out, but this time, it stays stuck on this screen: ![]() And if I do login in, I play for a couple of minutes, and the entities in the game stop responding. After a minute of roaming about, it boots me back to the login screen. Any help would be greatly appreciated :) WinMTR results: |------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------| | WinMTR statistics | | Host - % | Sent | Recv | Best | Avrg | Wrst | Last | |------------------------------------------------|------|------|------|------|------|------| | 192.168.1.1 - 0 | 79 | 79 | 0 | 0 | 2 | 0 | | 192.168.0.1 - 0 | 79 | 79 | 0 | 1 | 3 | 0 | | 10.48.32.1 - 0 | 79 | 79 | 6 | 10 | 15 | 11 | | vl03-north01.csr01.melita.com - 0 | 79 | 79 | 6 | 10 | 17 | 11 | | gi01-xlokk01.csr01.melita.com - 0 | 80 | 80 | 7 | 10 | 18 | 12 | | mno-b2-link.telia.net - 0 | 79 | 79 | 32 | 36 | 73 | 37 | | ffm-bb2-link.telia.net - 0 | 79 | 79 | 41 | 52 | 119 | 47 | | ffm-b12-link.telia.net - 0 | 79 | 79 | 42 | 45 | 60 | 45 | |xe-1-0-1.bbr01.xn01.fra01.networklayer.com - 0 | 79 | 79 | 42 | 45 | 58 | 44 | | ae7.bbr02.xn01.fra01.networklayer.com - 5 | 68 | 65 | 41 | 43 | 59 | 48 | | ae1.bbr01.eq01.ams02.networklayer.com - 0 | 79 | 79 | 48 | 51 | 80 | 54 | | ae5.dar02.sr01.ams01.networklayer.com - 0 | 79 | 79 | 48 | 52 | 79 | 50 | | po2.fcr01.sr01.ams01.networklayer.com - 11 | 56 | 50 | 48 | 58 | 193 | 50 | |37.58.67.210-static.reverse.softlayer.com - 0 | 79 | 79 | 48 | 52 | 56 | 55 | |________________________________________________|______|______|______|______|______|______| WinMTR v0.92 GPL V2 by Appnor MSP - Fully Managed Hosting & Cloud Provider Last edited by Warly#6245 on Jun 20, 2014, 12:24:37 PM

" Does this always happens at that moment and do you mean "when you click the character"? When did this started to occur or has it ever worked like it should? " Maybe something is interfering with your connection? Are you on WIFI and through what sort of network components do you connect? And have you tried disabling security software temporarily? The 11% packet loss is also a bit remarkable I guess: " You might as well check what happens on one of the other gateways too. Last edited by Startkabels#3733 on Jun 20, 2014, 2:04:17 PM

This happens 95% of the time, and yes, I click the character, and it gets stuck in the loading screen.
No, i'm used a wired connection. What do you mean by network components? And yes, I have tried disabling security software. Mind helping me out on the "other gateways" part please? :) |

The most common case for the characters not to load is some antivirus/firewall/security software blocking the packets for Path of Exile from working properly.
You can try a new gateway by changing your selection on the region (at login) from Europe to America or something else... see if it has the same issue. You can also attempt to connect to Path of Exile while connected to a VPN and see if it works then. If it works on the VPN but not otherwise, you have an issue with firewalls or something in your network filtering traffic. Instructions for setting up and using a free VPN can be found linked in the Consolidated Technical sticky post. Last edited by Drakier#1520 on Jun 20, 2014, 7:16:20 PM

Changing the gateway didn't work.
Currently testing out the VPN, it logged in instantly, but I need to test it for an hour or two to make sure there are no disconnections. |

You're not really supposed to be playing on the vpn... it was just about testing connection to see if you have a blockage.. and it appears you do.

I'm guessing I have to call my ISP, correct?

I have the exact same problem. I find it very odd because I don't have a remotely similar problem with anything else that I play, and I don't want to go on hold for several hours to talk to my isp.

" Please create your own thread and provide your own data. Often we get posts here where people say "me too" or "I have the exact same problem" only to find that the problems aren't at all the same and aren't caused by the same root issue. Only way to know for sure is to get a new thread with new data from you. Please refer to the "Rules" sticky post for more information. Last edited by Drakier#1520 on Jun 22, 2014, 4:32:42 PM
