About 2 hander's

I think that if we build around the idea of mitigating the weakness of 2h with it´s strength, that this would be way more cunning than just negating it´s weakness.
What can never be lent or earned?
Somewhat, that devours everyone and everything:
A tree that rush. A bird that sings. It eat bones and smite the hardest stones.
Masticate every sword. Shatters every shrine. It defeat mighty kings and carry mountains on lightly wings.
What am i?
This might have been suggested before, but what about this.
A keystone thats says something like "2 hand mastery: 20% increased armore while holding a 2 handed weapon, 20% increased evasion while holding a 2 handed weapon"
Could be 2 keystones in different areas of the tree, one for the armor, the other for the evasion.

Well, thats also true. Maybe one has to figure out a way to optimise and use the bigger damage to kill or disable the monsters before taking to much damage instead.

You mean more, not increased? We have the ordinary nodes that provide even more than your suggestion.

And even more would be a shitty bonus, we have Immortal Call for things that deal a lot of physical damage.
10k armour is just fine for 90%+ of the content.

The thing is, crit builds with 1-handers outperform 2-handers in DPS territory by a lot and have a lot more benefits in survivability, from permanent flask upkeep to Vaal Pact/Atziri Acuity, plus a shield of course.

And that's where I see the main issue, 2-handers do not provide more DPS.
@dreamer000, what tinko said, armor/evasion value's are not the issue in end-game for 2-hand builds, it is spell mitigation.
Freedom is not worth having if it does not include the freedom to make mistakes
Increase EHP by adding a "Parry Mechanic"

Functions the same way as block, but only reduces damage by 50%. We have two possible ways to grant base parry value:

1)Parry would be granted passively by holding a two handed weapon (15% base). This could be an automatic passive bonus as per dual wielders receiving passive block.

2)Parry could be granted as a second implicit mod on weapons.

Spoiler
Staff = base BLOCK chance (which should also be increased from where it is currently)
Mace = low parry chance (10%?)
Axe = medium parry chance (15%)
Sword = high parry chance (20%)
This would require some balancing. I am aware that axes have the highest DPS of weapons, so they should theoretically have the lowest parry chance... anyway, balance isn't my concern right now.

Where does additional parry come from?
1) Passive nodes:
Spoiler
add nodes or modify the two hander nodes in game to grant parry chance. We've seen damage/life nodes, damage/armour nodes, so damage/parry nodes would fit in nicely.

Nodes in the mara/templar section could offer "+% parry with two handers,." Some nodes in the duelist/mara area could offer "+% chance to block and parry with weapons", leaving options open for build diversity. The ranger/duelist edge of the tree offers the dual wield block chances.

2) Gear:
Spoiler
certain pieces of gear that offer +% block chance, like BoR would also offer parry chance. Basically, any gear that offers chance to block would also apply to parry. naturally, this wouldn't be applicable with shields.

Conclusion: We offer two hand builds additional EHP and a defence mechanism that is, by it's nature less effective than the corresponding defense mechanisms. We also give 2 hand builds a potential to acquire spell mitigation without having to carry a staff.

Will this ever happen? Nope, but it's fun to think about it.
