" With "only" 2-3 hours per day, maybe your gear is where it should be. Maybe you don't "deserve" further upgrades. This may sound hard, but people in this game actually "work" for their items. ... But if you want to know: 28 Exalted Orbs = 1120 Chaos Orbs (is exchange rate still 40 in Ambush?) = 560 unidentified chaos recipes, let's say 500, as chaos orbs (and even exalted orbs) tend to drop once in a while. Let's say, you do a Piety Run in about 10 Minutes and complete an unid recipe in 3 runs, while getting a stack of Alterations (= 1 chaos) with the remaining items. That's about 6 chaos per hour, so for 500 you need to play ~40-50 hours. With 2-3 hours a day, that would be ~ 20 days of full time Piety farming. Cut a couple of days for the eventual 1-5 Exalt Uniques (like Bringer of Rain, Alpha's Howl and others) you will find during this time, so I'd say: You make it to Soultaker in two weeks with 2-3 hours daily. Note that all the numbers are rough estimates and I don't bother to search for the right ones or even deliver correct maths, as there's so much randomness involved, so the final result of "two weeks" is also just an estimate. Worth it? I'd say no. But it can be done if you desire Soultaker so hard. It comes down to "working for it". 3.5 build: https://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/2299519

" A recipe in 3 runs? I've played for weeks without a recipe because rings belts and amulets never drop. This is an extremely dishonest estimation from where I'm standing. I gave up on the idea of chaos recipe altogether because it's a total joke getting those 3 (4 with 2 rings) components. No, the truth is this game is meant to be botted and RMTd, because without that or some similar advantage you aren't going to find or afford those items, ever. my evasion is so high i only insta rip sometimes ----- Bug Fixes: People were using cyclone for actual melee builds, so we nerfed it and made blade vortex. Also, we went ahead and made cyclone great for CoC casters while we were at it. Last edited by Legatus1982#1658 on May 21, 2014, 11:24:23 AM

" The truth is, people are too lazy to farm. If you know what you're doing you should be able to farm a Shav's in a couple of weeks. If you don't know what you're doing or are too lazy to farm for an item, you don't deserve a Shav's :P easy. GGG banning all political discussion shortly after getting acquired by China is a weird coincidence. Last edited by Xavderion#3432 on May 21, 2014, 11:30:44 AM

" If that's what you want to believe, go ahead. But you sure it isn't you who is "dishonest", someone stating "rings belts and amulets never drop" or that "this game is meant to be botted"? And isn't this "botting" about the same as doing the stupid grind yourself, just without you doing it and with time saved? I've seen Players farm farm farm for weeks like crazy. Vendor everything, keep just the unid rings, belts, amulet, this shit starts to build up. Then once a stash is full, you do your recipes in a couple of runs, build up a new stash... Takes time. Yes. Is annoying and boring. Yes. But you build up currency slowly, but surely, until in the end, if you are really dedicated, you can buy your freakin Shavronnes/Soultaker/whatever. I'd say it is a stupid approach, I'd rather not "work" in a video game and play something that does fine with a 1 ex weapon instead of a 30 ex one. But nevertheless it can be done. 3.5 build: https://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/2299519

WTS chaos orbs 1:3 alchemy orbs
------> Alch rings + amulets -------> sell good rolls for profit (1 chaos orb for 1 is already a profit in this case, sell cheap, gain wealth fast) Utilize crap rolls for chaos recipe -------> repeat step one, and enjoy the fun of gambling rings + amu's at no cost.(double effective if you need a specific ring/amu upgrade) '-.- Shit's hard yo. Freedom is not worth having if it does not include the freedom to make mistakes

I chanced mine.
I spent like 500 chance orbs there and there during normal gameplay on various item bases And first and only Pretty nice rolls aswell |

It's not an exactly bad thing that there are the top 1% item most people would never see drop, and the nonlegacy version can be saved up for after a number of time playing.
Even with the price tag you can build extremely powerful characters for the price of one of theses items anyway, no idea why people feel as though they need them (and after the shav 2.0 item dropped) it wasn't like they needed theses items for any specific builds. |

" it is an absolutely horrible thing, if there is one item in the game - just one - that a player cannot obtain no matter how hard he/she tries, because it's really not up to them. and no, being lucky or trading ad nauseam - is not playing or being good at, an Action RPG. Path Of Exile doesn't have just one item. theoretically, every single item in the game has the potential to never drop for you, no matter what you do gameplay-wise. or drop regardless of what you did, which is equally as bad. and the same applies for trying to craft something - anything - and even to accessing a large portion of the game's content. it's all down to luck. layers of consecutive luck. and/or to doing things more related to the Stock Market than to killing monsters. all of it. risk/reward equals 0 in Path Of Exile. even buffed drop rates, boxes, Exiles, Invasion Bosses, Vaal areas or whatever, are still random. still out of the player's control. people who think that's good design for a game, in a genre defined by players earning their loot, progression, and character improvement - please raise your hand. people who still think that design doesn't give a fucking turbo-boost to ahem... "3rd party" ... ways of obtaining one's gear - please raise your hand. that's why - surprise surprise, RagnarokChu - I'm against dumbly buffing drop rates. instead, I'm for GGG letting me have a say about my own damn character's destiny. I'm also for difficulty that tests me, and the build of my character - rather than just testing the gear he/she's wearing. and remember those "3rd party" gear providers? they fucking love gear-checks. gear checks + zero risk/reward, make their business boom. I'm playing since 4 Months and are close to a Shav, w/o flipping, just looting and lvling...
Actually I don't see a big difference between wearing mf gear and not :) |

" Yes I'm quite sure I'm not being dishonest. I've tried the chaos recipe thing and after a full 2-3 weeks of piety I had 0 completed chaos recipes. And I one shot piety while face tanking rare devoured packs with my MISTERKNIFE build, so it's not speed or efficiency. If you'd like I can link my recipe stash. I'm fairly certain you are grossly over exaggerating three runs to a recipe by at least a factor of 20 or more. If what you said is true all regular players would have a shavs. my evasion is so high i only insta rip sometimes ----- Bug Fixes: People were using cyclone for actual melee builds, so we nerfed it and made blade vortex.
