Game freezes and disconnects after alt+tab back into game

I'm not sure of anyone else experiences this, but when i alt+tab to my desktop, then back in, my game freezes up, and i get disconnected.

This is very frustrating since you cannot save your progress, and you're literally forced to look for a waypoint if you want to quit the game because there are other things to do!
