[2.0] THOR'S RAINBOWNUKE: DO ALL MAPS, UBER ATZIRI, AND EXPLOSIONS!

I believe it is going to be a retroactive change, or rather a change that's going to affect leech globally and the calculations will be done with those changes despite what tooltips might say. Not sure how to explain it, but I think one of the devs mentioned something about how even though the values might not change on the items they will still leech at the new, proper amounts, or something like that.

That said, there is also the change to Tempest Shield, which could actually be rather interesting for this build. It's lightning damage, and now it no longer reserves mana, but does provide shield block chance of around 3%, which is not bad if you're looking to grab some block nodes and go a little more defensive for this build. Here's a look at it, but mind you some of the stuff is still a WIP, like it not having reserved mana: http://cb.poedb.tw/us/gem.php?n=Tempest+Shield Notice that it has a +1 chain to it, and it can be affected by the Chain gem, which means that Mjolner's inherent 'Skills chain +1' should work with TS, as it's an active skill, so that means the lightning arc from it should chain 2 times. Note also that there is a cooldown timer on it, which means it will only activate once ever 0.5 seconds, even if you block multiple attacks in that time frame.

Since TS is a spell that means it'll scale with spell damage modifiers as well as Wrath, and you can add other stuff to it like Added Lightning Damage, Lightning Pen, Chain, and even Life Leech or Iron Will to give it more punch. Granted, we'll still likely be killing things rather fast so it might not add a whole lot to the party, but I think it can work out well, if nothing more than the fact that we can scale it nicely and with decent use of a Rumi's flask or shield block nodes we can keep TS refreshed without having to reactivate it too much.
I agree, its an interesting concept to use the new Tempest Shield, as it synergizes with this build very well. Defensively, the 3% block will be a small but well appreciated upgrade. Offensively, having a "mini arc" that procs independently from mjolner, albeit with its own internal cooldown, can help improve clear speed and somewhat compensate for our regular arc triggering less often, if the mjolner proc nerf is retroactive. What I'm more interested to know is: Will the TS "mini arc" grant us power charges on hit? If it does grant power charges, then it will be an even greater boost to this build's consistency,by helping us get power charges more frequently.

The new TS will definitely work well given the synergies with our inherently high spell damage, lightning damage and +1 to chain form Mjolner. In regards to using support gems to boost the power of TS, personally, I feel that the "mini arc" doesnt deal enough damage outright to justify support gem investment. Linking TS to your BR+enhance combo would probably be the most efficient combo. Comboing it with Rumi's, like you suggested, will probably suffice for refreshing the buff duration.
Gotta say thanks to you guys that are scoping out this build for the next patch. I love this build and am thrilled that this is sounding viable if different for the next patch.

It definitely will be different and a lot of things are hinging on whether or not we're gonna have Mjolner go legacy, how to balance around the new IC, and many other things. There's gonna be a lot of dust kicked up and A LOT of theorycrafting and experimentation done before we get it back together. :p
You can definitely expect a whole ton of theorycrafting and fine tuning once the awakening launches. There are still a few more weeks of beta content that has yet to be released, and we have no idea what sort of bomb shells GGG has yet to drop on us. In the mean time, here is a brief summary of the key changes (so far) that will be evaluated once the awakening launches.

- Mjolner nerf - Retroactive or Legacy

- New Leech Mechanics - Must also explore modifications to the Life Leech Gem and Vaal Pact

- Aura changes, Changes to Reduced Mana and Enlighten

- Gem Tweaks/Mechanic Changes - Especially Blood Rage and Immortal Call

- Changes to Passive Tree - Intuitive Leap Combos and Changes to Blood Magic Keystone

- Jewels - Evaluate Unique Jewels like Specialised and Intuitive Leap

- Addition of new Unique Items and Item Mods - Such as Repentance

- Crit RainbowNuke - Worth Investigating after generating a viable RainbowNuke build

Given the large scope of changes to explore, its safe to assumes that the most concrete and efficient RainbowNuke builds will take at least 1-2 weeks to be properly developed.

Today some good news finally dropped. Based on the most recent Development Manifesto, and how specifically it was worded, it is more or less confirmed that the mjolner nerf is NOT RETROACTIVE. Hence, the DPS viability of this build in 2.0 is no longer thay big of a concern. For new players of this game, buying al legacy mjolner will be very expensive especially with the unique item hoarders and price flippers. It is still unknown whether the buff to the gavel base attack speed will retroactively affect mjolner.

Since the buff to the weapon is the actual base and not the stats, any changes made to base weapons/armor will go through and affect all existing spawns of the weapon. That means the Mjolners - legacy or not - will have the new attack speed base. Glad to see the proc nerf is not retroactive and will certainly not be using any divines on my Mjolners that I do own. :P
