The DPS is subpar and Atziri nearly blows him to pieces despite the high energy shield. The guy is also using mostly BiS stuff.

Just because you can raise one stat through the roof doesn't necessarily mean anything is broken.

I'm facetanking atziri on purpose,
just to show, with a little bit of skill, Atziri becomes how easy :)

Talking about op/up is a bit weak here. It is utterly broken. No matter which gear you have, it should not be like this. Especially when comparing life vs ES/low life, this comes true.

There is nothing broken, especially when you compare life vs ES/low life. Life can be done by everybody (and most do it), but ES/low life is something you have to work towards. Its just not that simple (and cheap) like life stacking and thus its correct (imho) that a well geared ES/low life build is a more powerful build than a "normal" life build. I understand ES/low life as an upgrade to yr normal life build which you can switch into at a certain level (gear requirement).

Running 9 auras as a single guy on low life build is broken. It is not even questionable. Even 7-8 would be.

When it comes to endgame the highest tiers of items for both life and ES are equal as expensive and difficult to get or craft. In the earlier stages es is more difficult to play, but this has no effect on endgame.

The (endgame) build diversity gets limited by the fact that low life/es beats everything and is way too strong for the existing content, so that it almost becomes pointless to play at all as op as it is, even CI sucks against it. Games like this should always allow different pathes to be equal/similar as strong in the end. There is no difference in spending 250 exa on a legacy shavs or the same amount on a 5-6 tier1 6L life chest or on a 5-6 tier1 6L normal ES chest. If there were little differences there would not be an issue, but the differences are huge. For you obviously the guy who opts for the shavs should value higher. The question is why. And especially the question is why this would be legitimated by the fact that es is more difficult to play when you hit lvl 60 in a new league or smth like this.

I wonder why so many more players play on Standard, then?

Oh, because it isn't a "dumpsterleague".
Lol. I had like 5 ES nodes, CI, was dual wield, and had 12.5 ES in CB. That was OP.

This is meh. They shouldve never allowed spells to leech. By far one of the worst changes to the game.

How would spellcasting CI builds get ES, then?

A good chest and helm, back when you could get 3-600 ES on gloves/boots (no limit on affix rolls). And CI gave 50% More ES then. Oh, and high end ES rolls got nerfed by like 33%. So basically imagine them nerfing CI, making it cost more, then nerfing ES, then nerfing ES (all defenses, actually) from it's twice nerfed state (this is after they had already nerfed CI 3 times). As recompense, they gave us Ghost Reaver and Zealot's Oath. And every caster threw down their wands and picked up a rapier/dagger and never looked back.
What allows him to take ALL es nodes without a penalty? We could just as well argue the case that Physical Melee is OP since it requires so little investment to make good damage (buffed weapons, buffed passives, strong supports, leech from gear).
