I actually dont play many games nowadays. Also I dont have a specific genre I prefer. So it is already saying something that I still haunt these fora.

FPS - I hardly play them anymore since all of them turned into handheld stories where the shooting mechanic is just filler. (And yes I am even looking at you Half-Life 2) I am still waiting for monuments the size of F.E.A.R. (2005) and Crysis (2007).

RTS - All sequels and look-a-likes of Rome Total War, Supreme Commander and Company of Heroes are crap. If you want a rts; boot one of these up.

RPG - Mainly been dead since BG2 but there is light at the end of the tunnel. A lot of interesting classic rpg's are coming out this year. ARPG: Path of Exile is the best action RPG I played.

I think Disgaea gets my award for best grinding one person game. The entire series actually. And Makai Kingdom also, made by the same developers.

Master of Magic(from way back in 1995) for the game with the highest complexity while remaining fun. Although its amongst the turn-based strategy genre, to this day, it remains amongst my favorite top 5 games.

GTA series for the greatest freedom in it's world.

I currently play PoE and LoL. I highly favor PoE and think it's a great game, but I worry for its future direction. As for LoL, FUCK THAT GAME I HATE IT SO MUCH, but ranked games are addictive and the grind is real.

I play mostly PoE.

But when bored with PoE I play the S.T.A.L.K.E.R. series with the Stalker complete 2009 mod. Or when I just want to do it easy I Play Banished.

PoE is the only ARPG i like. Only others i played are D2 and TL2 and i didn't like either of them.

Best game ever for me would be Dota1/2. Most entertaining game to watch competitively and i used to play a lot of dota1. Got bored over the years playing so only got 100 hours of dota2.

To answer OP's question, I think PoE is the best ARPG in the world. TQ comes somewhat close though. And Median XL is a solid 3rd place.

Demon's Souls (original), Dark Souls, and soon to be released: Dark Souls 2.

That entire series is just plain fucking awesome. The sense of foreboding and urgency when you play is just simply something that cannot be recreated in any other game. The feeling of reward after you beat a certain boss/area is also unmatched.
