FPS issues with party

Hello there.
I have been having problems with Path Of Exile, usually when I join a group of players my FPS drops quite rapidly when they cast their abilities. If however, I play solo I usually get around 160-200. When I'm in a party, it usually stays around the same until I walk up to the party members, then it usually deteriorates. I get to low figures, like 16. Sometimes its unplayable, for example when someone is casting Discharge, CoC and LMP FireBalls. So I was wondering, do I not have a good enough PC to run the game? I have tried lowering the quality, taking off vSync and changing the quality the .ini file. DxDiag:

Your video card's shader cores are the bottleneck causing this lag, but that card should be within the range of cards which have smooth video in full parties. Perhaps you are seeing some thermal throttling, check the temperatures of your GPU and while you're at it, whether it's stepping down (underclocking itself) when you're in the game (check this with windowed mode so you can see both windows at once).
Since you recently upgraded to the current driver, it's possible most of your shaders (little effects programs which run in the shader cores) need to be re-compiled on the fly. This would mean that your shader cache (stored shader programs from previously seen effects) is mostly useless until you've seen a lot more combinations of graphic effects. This might be a slight noticeable delay, but nothing game changing. That card has been used by streamers who have absolutely no video lag whatsoever, and the rest of your system seems more than good enough. | |

I didn't read the example you gave correctly, I thought you were describing builds of the different party members, but that was an example of just one person. This should explain why those effects are hell on your card.

" I think it's less about running parties in general vs specific parties. There are some party setups that even NASA supercomputers wouldn't be able to run well. It's a lot based on what skills and effects are happening in the group. The less "crazy" the better it can run. CoC Discharge builds as an example are REALLY hard to group in because of the amount of crazy effects that happen in parties with those types of players... and if you have more on top of that, it is worse. There are also a lot of "specific" settings that can make a difference based on your PC. Those are really hard to figure out. I have a GTX 660 but I run on Linux. I don't have a lot of issues, but I generally don't group anyway, and when I do, I don't do 6-man groups, and certainly not with crazy effects builds. PoE is a very demanding and graphical game. The shaders and other effects IMO are unmatched. At the same time, the rendering engine is still very infant and not mature which makes it a little tougher on some machines, and leaves a lot of possible future optimization. Keep in mind that GGG is a small indie studio who made their own engine... they aren't Blizzard or EA or some multi-billion dollar company, and they didn't license an already mature engine from someone else. | |

Agree with everything stated, however I also am unable to play in groups. Still enjoy the game, I play solo and once in a while in a small group. I have tried everything on the forums ( and cust. serv ) suggestions, little to no difference. Only game I have a problem with. I wish there were more graphic options to disable/lower. I know I am not alone, Two guilds I was in both had numerous people quit the game for the same reasons. Both guilds are inactive now. It's a shame because its really a great game, not designed or meant to play solo.
