90% of the playerbase did not even have the skill or technique to bhop, so you are remembering with rose colored glasses.

some more eye candy from a better era:

Please...

Maybe you grew up on another planet... Cause youre talking about what we used to call rocket/grenade-jumping. Bunny-hopping is this:

Loads of people were bunny-hopping, Skilled or non-skilled people used that shit.

none of those jumps would be possible without bhopping as they take a requisite amount of speed to pull off.

most of those players would even have their current speed as a part of their HUD so they could make sure they were going the right speed.

no "non-skilled" people were bhopping, unless they scripted it. bhopping was a skill on its own. so if you could do it well, you were by definition, skilled.

In Q1, you just had to hold the jump key to instantly jump as soon as you land :p

no scripts required.

I feel like bhop became more of an 'exploit' in early CS because they half fixed it (you needed to time your jumps, and so people either scripted or mousewheeled it etc)

The bhop skill factor had always been more about your movement in the air more than how well you can time your jump (imo)

In a similar fashion, the 'skill' in SF is more about how to initiate a combo than the execution of it...

What were we talking about again?
