So I was playing fine this morning. Now I have this error and cannot patch. So what exactly is the problem because my laptop was obviously able to play fine before this patch.

I will add that I switched from the Washington to California server this morning as I recently came to Phoenix for vacation. Could the game be confused and trying to patch from Washington but is set on California?

EDIT:
Ok, fixed by ending the KillerNetworkService.exe process on my MSI laptop. Ugh

Jeesus, man, u're good! Don't know how you came to it - but this worked for my MSI laptop too!

Same here, same here! I did not even know I had that service, gonna remove it.
THIS IS THE ONLY RESOLUTION FOR ERROR: disconnected from patching server before patching completed

Step 1. Reboot your router
Step 2. Relaunch your Pathofexile.exe

That's it! no need to change anything!

again this is the only resolution!....
Got this problem on jan 2, no matter how much long I attemped to patch client. Checked the client with buil-in PackCheck.exe, but it did not help.

The following steps helped

I downloaded client installer, set the path to existing game and pressed "Install". It verified installation and said "complete" very fast.

After this I was able to patch game normally.

yep 2020 and this problem still persists. I cant play poe anymore, reinstalling, uni9nstalling is of no help.
I just don't understand how this is not yet fixed. It is keeping me and a couple of friends from playing, and i guess there are many more. This should be something easy to fix, but they apparently just don't care. I just gonna give up on the game and studio.
Ending the Killer Network service in task manager finally fixed it for me. Had this happen for the first time in the 7 years i've been playing. Couldn't find a solution anywhere and GGG support never got back to me. Oh well, it's fixed now :-)
I was also locked out of the patch server when I wanted to update the game after being away from it for over a year. I read through this thread and tried all the suggestions that applied to my setup. Nothing helped, even after having renamed the original GGG folder and done a new installation.

Then the thought occurred that I hadn't tried running the new PathOfExile.exe as an administrator. That got me into the loading screen finally and the update all the way to 3.9 ran smoothly, so now I'm happy.

From reading this thread, it appears to me that this problem could have more than one cause. That would make it more difficult to isolate the cause. It would be nice to get a response of some kind from GGG, but maybe they don't have or want to hire the resources to deal with customers on this level.

Launch day for delerium here. Had this problem. Went to root folder. Right click on "client.exe" and run as admin. Fixed. Hope this helps! Happy hunting, exiles.
