Because if Malaysia is anything to go by, people are too ****ing lazy to dispose of chewed gum properly. Under bus seats. On bus seats. Train seats. Train handle bars. Toilets. You name it, there's one.

In fairness, I don't know if it counts as racism if what someone says is actually provably true.

Corporal punishment is still law in Singapore, and it's used for some very petty offenses. Spitting out chewing gum however will get you a fine, not a legal beating.

Gay men can also be sent to prison for up to 2 years for having sex, though this doesn't apply to gay women.

Seriously, for a civilized country, it's pretty damn uncivilized imo.
