Level 40 = 50 + 120 = 170 base evasion.
144 Dex = 28.8 evade%.
377 armor from gear (assuming % increased armor mod is 'local')
191 evasion from gear (assuming % L&S mod is 'local')
104% armor from L&S
104% evade from L&S

With your existing gear, expected stats:

(170 + 191) * (2.328) = 840.4 evade.
(377) * (2.04) = 769.1 armor.

So non-IR formulas check out (validates we have all the data we need).

IR predictions (same gear/level/dex/passives)

1609.5: LS only applied once
2483.5: LS applied twice on evade (on evade as evade% and after conversion as armor%), multiplicative
1984.9: LS applied twice on evade (on evade as evade% and after conversion as armor%), additive

I'm guessing it's the first one because the wiki says it's only applied once, and it's not abusable.

IR predictions (same gear/level/dex/+10% armor passive/LS only applied once)

1647.2: Armor% only affects armor-sourced armor
1683.3: Armor% affects evade-sourced armor, additive
1731.2: Armor% affects evade-sourced armor, multiplicative

so EasymodeX if as you anticipate the value ends up 1609... does that mean LS and IR do not work together effectively?


Will you be able to get those figures after you get IR, then grab a +armour% node to see what the figures are after that too?

I suspect same as easymode if I understood all his math hehe. I think once you get IR, your armor and evasion are added together and turned into armor, then all your + % nodes are added together, regardless of what they are (armor, evasion or evasion and armor) and applied to the total from IR
if someone would be willing to donate 3 regret orbs, i will be more than happy to unskill a LS suburb and skill up SS suburb (if refunds can be made on skills of your choice rather than being able to refund only skill you put in last)


OK.

got IR. it is as folks guessed 1610 (50% reduction). (this is with chest piece of 144armor).

231 armor in chest instead = 1788
231 evasion in chest instead = 1855
127/127 hybrid armor = 1871 (but it is also slightly higher total too from the base armor stats)


so here we are. with all the Ls nodes i have spent points on (8 total skill points) is it worth it to keep IR or should i just unskill it and go with hybrid armor/evasion build?

SS applies for evasion as well after converting.
So I should say SS is better in fact
so the question now is will both steel skin passives stack and give me 60% or extra armor? or they won't stack? same with all named passives?
So, if going Iron Reflexes, it looks like the best way is to get all evasion gear and whatever nodes offer the best value, be it armour, evasion or evasion and armour.


All three nodes appear to have an equal effect on your resulting armour but only evasion gear gets the benefit from dexterity.
Yes. Also, I found a reference on the Ranger board to a dev comment where they basically said they wanted all the nodes to apply (SS, L&S, Evade%), but obviously wanted to avoid multiplicative / abusable stacking.

So, an IR build should use Evade armor (because of the Evade% from Dex), and should use either SS or the Evade% nodes (or the notable L&S nodes from behind). Basically whatever nodes have the highest % value per node.

so i just refunded 3 nodes. 8-8-24LS. original total was 1590 armor. then i took 12-10-30SS and ended up 1678.

According to the same formula, you should have (using the hybrid chest) 1870 with the old 3 L&S nodes, 1531 without the 3 L&S nodes, and then (probably) 1972 with the armor nodes.
Haven't read the entire thread but since it seems people are still confused by this I thought I'd try to clear some things up since I've already tested this stuff out.

Quick and easy version : Leather and Steel nodes aren't as efficient as as the Steel Skin groupings if you are using Iron Reflexes

(The lower grouping of L&S especially, 6 nodes for a 64% increase versus 6 nodes for a 102% increase)

Also, evasion will net you more overall than armor simply because of your dexterity bonus, but the difference it will make to your damage reduction % isn't exactly game breaking, and will not warrant not using any items that you may find that are armor or armor/evasion if they fit your needs.
