A proper new permanent league: Purity

In other words, standard is not treated with the full respect that newer leagues are shown, there is no permanent league that is fully respected as a choice in itself. If you want to build your character for years you are forced to play in the dumpster. The damage is done in standard, items flood that have been eternalled to perfection, mirrored versions are abound and legacy gear, including legacy IIQ gear, means that players who are new to PoE and want to play permanent leagues are fighting uphill, even upmountain. The damage is done, standard is wrecked.

That said, there is some measure of truth to standard being a bit of a dumpster league, and I think the OP has a valid consideration to be made.

However: GGG is on record saying something to the effect of this (sorry, can't find the post quickly with the direct quote):

"Powerful legacy items are a core feature of the game."

Now whether that's an intended development consideration or simply because it'd be difficult and ill-advised to shut down the game for hours to be able to roll out a wholesale change across all accounts... I have no idea.

But regardless, it's never going to change. And I'm okay with that.


EDIT: I'd kind of like to see a purely self-found hardcore league. No trades allowed except for currency to craft your own items. See who comes out on top then.
