Weapon elemental damage?

Does not work with spells
Does not work with facebreaker because no weapon

You need a weapon, and a melee or projectile attack that actually uses it not just takes its stats for spells or traps or totems (cleave / power siphon / spectral throw / ground slam / cyclone / heavy strike / all bow skills etc)

It takes all base elemental damage, after *increases*, and gives X% *more*

so 200 cold damage, 200% increase, 65% more with cleave

200 x 3 x 1.65 = 990 cold damage

Unless I missed something going from beta into 1.0.0, there are so many things wrong with your post.

Based on pre-1.0.0 knowledge:

Weapon Elemental Damage gem doesn't add any elemental damage to your weapon. It adds no flat values of elemental damage. Weapon Elemental Damage will multiply all of the elemental damage on any linked Attack skills. There are several ways to have an Attack skill with elemental damage on it:
-Lightning Arrow gem converts 50% of your physical damage into lightning damage
-Infernal Blow gem converts 50% of your physical damage into fire damage
-Burning Arrow gem converts 50% of your physical damage into fire damage
-Glacial Hammer gem converts 50% of your physical damage into cold damage
-Hrimsorrow Goathide Gloves (unique) converts 25% of your physical damage into cold damage
-Blackgleam Cured Quiver (unique) converts 30 to 50% of your physical damage into fire damage
-Elemental Hit gem adds flat elemental damage
-"Adds x-y" elemental damage on gloves, rings, or amulets
-"Adds x-y" elemental damage on the weapon with which you use the Attack skill
-Avatar of Fire keystone passive converts 50% of physical and other elemental damage types into fire damage
-Probably some other stuff I'm forgetting.

Things that will not be multiplied by Weapon Elemental Damage gem without one of the above:
-Spectral Throw. It doesn't convert any physical damage to elemental damage, so why would it?
-Spark gem. It's not an Attack, so it doesn't get boosted.

Well, there's indeed some added ele damages from the items : 39-121. Why not a Melee Physical Damage (MPD) instead for instance ?
WED cf. the video is 77% more at lvl 17, so the 39-121 becomes 69-214, +30-93.
With MPD (+46% lvl 17) and the weapon doing actually 207-300, it becomes 302-438, +95-138.

Edit @Below: I forgot it. Need a Weapon Physical Damage support gem :p.

Nope, it just increases elemental damages in %. So you've to get some elemental damages at first, it will not convert or add anything apparently, just multiply what it already exists.

Spectral throw is a projectile attack and therefore wouldn't benefit from more melee physical damage.
Spectral throw + wed + add fire ?


Try AoF & Resolute Technique with Spectral Throw, Chance to ignite, increased burning damage, weapon elemental damage and GMP.

I'm working on it now and its pure amazing.

Can anyone explain if this gem will boost the regular attack of a staff if it already has 1-13 bonus lightning damage built in? Or is it only attack skills from attack gems?

Well, the lightning damage from the staff will be added to the damage of any attack skill you use. And WED support will multiply it. But, if you are using the default attack (you shouldn't be) WED will have no effect.

If you use heavy strike+WED with a hammer that has +1-10 lightning damage, have a ring on with +1-10 lightning damage, and a wrath aura on with 1-10 lightning damage. All of those will be added to the base heavy strike attack for 3-30 lightning damage. Then will be multiplied by the heavy strike multiplier of 50% (4.5-45 lightning damage), then multiplied by your lvl 26 WED at 65% for 7.425-74.25 lightning damage. :D

Because the build is based on elemental damage from auras (and some from the weapon or jewelry). The fast attack speed of the weapon deals out the aura damage faster than a slow weapon, and any +% weapon elemental damage mods you have increase the aura damage substantially. Weapon elemental damage increases the elemental damage that Spectral throw does (coming from the wrath and anger auras) substantially.
