Need Help - has anyone built a SnB mara? New to this game but not to concept

Hello everyone,

I wanted to know if anyone had built a masterful PvM and PvP SnB (sword and board) mara to smash through the acts.

What should my skill tree look like? What should my gems be? etc etc

I am brand new to PoE, so I haven't had time to test each skill and build style

Also if anyone has any recommendations, I don't mind moving from SnB to something else for the mara. I mostly just want my first hero to be able to stomp through the game without needing godly items or lucky drops to get there.
