I know this because I also run a CoC build (build posted in this section also). Adding crit multiplier on my fireballs makes em do about 30% more average dmg, which is pretty nice :).

I'm pretty sure this isnt 200k DPS, because my build clears stuff WAY faster and runs at about 50k dps per target hit. (clears dominus in a few seconds, he attacks me once per fight).

Here is where i think it's wrong:

1. Barrage shot 8 Projectile, if you add chain then
2. it will shot 16 Projectiles, if all crit,then
3. It will cast 128 Projectile Spells in 1 sec, If you put 2 spell gem then
4. It will cast 256 Projectile in 1sec, since you have chain on it will do more 2x chain to monster
5. That total of 768 Projectile Spells in 1 sec!
6. If fire ball do avg of 300 damage, then the total damage per cast 230,400! but

7. Of course there wont be ton of monster in one area so that just theory craft :) but it fun to watch
8. If I have 400% crit multiple and they all crit then 230k + 400% = 1.1Million!!!
9. My gems only level 15 right now, so I will test it out and report to you :D

You need to calculate attacks speed, accuracy, critchance and cast on crit chance to know how many procs per second you do. Then you can add up those procs.

the bolded part is wrong, because most of those projectiles will miss and hit nothing. You are attacking at range, so more than half the projectiles are passing by monsters and not chaining. Also, to reach 200k dps, all those projectiles would have to hit the same target and chain themselves on that single target (which isnt possible). Also, barrage has the tendency to miss with a lot of the projectiles (the wander off, sadly :S).

That being said, your dmg output for AOE and big mob pacts is still pretty nice, and the look is awesome ;).

Ok lets the Math begin!

Gem : Setup

Barrage > COC > GMP > Chain > Fireball > Icespear

AOE lets say If "All hit"



1. Barrage

Barrage cast 3 + GMP 4 = total of 8 (1 base, +3 from Barrage gem, +4 from GMP = 8)

Add Chain 2 time = add 200%, 8 + 200% = 24

If all barrage crit, COC have max 88% at lvel 20, 24*0.88 = 21.12 round down 21

then COC will cast spell 21 times.



2. Cast Fireball/ice spear

Fireball have GMP 4 + chain 200% so that
1 from FB gem, +4 from GMP = 5 spell cast per coc

Add Ice spear that x 2

that 5 * 2 = 10 spell coming out then add Chain 200% and assume all hit

10 + 200% = 30 Spell cast per 1 COC barrage,



3 Barrage + Fireball + ice spear

We have to total of 21 COC spell cast.

21 x 30 = 630 Projectile per cast of Barrage,

Fireball + ice spear avg damage let say = 500 make it simple. (I have lot more at current level)

TOTAL : 3150,000 DPS if my barrage have 1 sec cast time. IF ALL HIT




4. Let say only 30% hit from spell.


lets say only 30% of this hit that 360,00*0.30 = 94,500 DPS.

Sound about right to me :)

After math, I found out that i do

315,000 DPS at 1 attack per sec.

So I rebuild my toon to 2 attack per sec

O yeah! 630,000 DPS

Super fast clear speed now, I will post new tree soon after test

one way to deal with reflect is replace fireball with raging spirit. cuts ur reflect in half. also works with EE. im doin a hybrid with barrage, coc, ek, raging spirit. cloak of defiance + block makes reflect a joke btw.

yeb just tested, No more Reflect problem :>

This weekend, i try many higher level map 72+ and Chaos damage BOSS is major problem.

I thinking of going with CI, same build replace all life to ES.

From my calculation, I should get around 200% ES. but I need like 20 regrets :<
