Steam vs Website download

Hi There,

I currently run my Path of Exile client through steam. I have a friend who downloaded the game off of the actual website, and in fact doesn't even have a steam account. He plays from Vietnam just fine, but if he tries to play PoE through steam it basically tells him it hasn't come to his country yet. I'm moving to Thailand in the next six months. If PoE won't work on steam over there either ... can I still play on my PoE champ by downloading the website client apposed to the Steam version? If I'm level 85-90 by then I don't want to have to re-level as I'm a casual player. Excuse all of the grammatical errors among other things.

Your account is linked to steam; to allow it on the classic(website) client you'll need to contact support@grindinggear.com and request it.

Aside from that, both versions contain the same content and access the same servers. All of your characters will still be there and you can play with anyone else.
