Problem starting the client

So I'm in South America for the next six days (yep.. perfect timing..) and I'm trying to get the game to work on my laptop. I've downloaded the game, but when I go to launch it, the screen goes black and a notification box appears in the middle and says:

'The D3D device has a non-zero reference count, meaning some objects were not released.'

then, hitting 'Ok' on the box results in

'Failed resetting the Direct3D Device Objects'

and

'DXUT Create Device failed'

After that the game remains a black screen.

All my drivers are up to date, and my directX is up to date as well.

Any idea what the issue could be? Or if there's a way to lower the settings of the game outside of the actual game, through .ini files, or something?

Yeah you can edit the ini, it's in "My Games/".

I don't think that would help. You need to install DirectX 9, or maybe get better hardware..

Tell us your video card model and other system specs.
