Its just a "shiny" cosmetic item. It also is almost a badge too, it shows everybody else that you supported GGG during closed beta, and how much you supported them.

But yeah, they are just awesome little dudes. I use mine as an early warning system- he runs away from baddies, and I am not that observant and sometimes he sees them before I do. XD
