Life Leech % Cap
Life Leech gem states explicitly "1% of damage leeched back as life". So how do you mean by it does not matter the amount of damage I do? What's the point of leveling the gem in the first place? If I have 1,000 HP and I deal 1 damage, I still leech 200 HP?
Now I am really confused and have hurt myself in the process again. Again, I do need to know if this cap is for life gain as well? If my Life gain gem grants me +2000 hp per hit, will any be caps be imposed? Thank you fellow Exiles. |

Life on Hit is not leech, thus the life leech rate is not applied to that. LoH is instantly applied.
Now to the life leech and it's rate: The healing you get is always returned with a (20% of maxlife)/second rate. So for example, you have 1000 life, 20% would be 200 life --> if you leech life you will get healed with the "speed" 200 life per second. Now you hit an enemy for 500 damage with 2% lifeleech, the total amount you will get healed is 500*0.02 = 10 life. It will take 10/200 = 0.05 seconds until that is done. If you have 10% life leech and deal 500 damage, you will get 50 life in total, given to you over a time of 50/200 = 0.25 seconds. And if you have 10% life leech, dealing 3000 damage, the total amount you will get healed would be 300 life. In that last case the healing will take 300/200 = 1.5 seconds. So increasing your life leech will increase the healing effect, but not the rate at which you get healed. Currently there are only two things affecting that 20%/sec-rate, a quality Life Leech gem can increase the leech rate, and with the passive "Vaal Pact" all leech is applied instantly. |

^Thanks you so much for the elaborate explanation. That was very clear. I am now not confused and will stop hurting myself in the process.

Perhaps, a simpler way to put it would be:
whenever you leech life, you gain an invisible "buff" that regenerates your life at the fixed rate of 20% of your life per second; the actual number of life leeched doesn't influence this "buff"'s magnitude, but only its duration. And speaking of this, is there any chance we can get a buff icon for the "life leech active" effect, along with an icon for "potion active"? I think it would make everyone's life a hundred times easier :3 |

I agree for the potion effect, but the Life-Leech effect could be annoying at times. Considering that there are a lot of situations where it only plobs out shortly it should only be shown if the duration surpasses 1sec.
Also I guess the equation is the same for Ghost-Reaver and CI, isn't it? |

" That is interesting indeed, as the equation for elemental dmg status effects take the life into account you would have without CI this could also apply to GR. regards Hold on to yer shite load o´ bloody barnacles on me arse-cockles, me hearty! " I think so, but I never tried it out. |

Had to dig a bit, but I remembered correctly: With Ghost Reaver the ES leech rate is based on your maximum ES. --> Source (last post)
