Several random connection problems

On my first day of playing PoE, everything worked fine. But the next day I downloaded a patch and ever since than I'm getting the following errors quite often:
-Unable to connect to patching server
-Unable to connect to login server
-Unable to connect to instance

So if I cant login for example, then I try again after 1 second and then it works fine all of a sudden for example.

I've read all that I could find and tried everything: allowing PoE in through my firewall, turning off my firewall, removed my virus scanner, turned off my router's firewall/opened the ports, re-installed the game, tried to play it on my housemates pc, changed to low settings...

I've managed to have a lvl 23 and a lvl 16 character, but every time I have to connect to something I can either connect (most of the time only takes a few sec) or get kicked out, which is really frustrating me because I really would like to play this game

Can someone help?

What happened with this?

Also, have you jiggled the wires and power cycled your router?
thx for the reply.

My housemate downloaded it but then runned into exactly the same problems as I do. We play quite a lot of game online, but neither of us has ever experienced any problems, except with PoE.
Our internet connection works fine. I indeed tried jiggling the wires and restarting the router, but no effect unfortunately ;(
It sounds like there's a connection problem between your computer and our servers. To help identify where the problem is please try downloading WinMTR and run it for at least 100 pings with eu.login.pathofexile.com as the "Host". Post the output here or email it to me at support@grindinggear.com
Dear Thomas,
Thank you for your reply. Yesterday's evening I was unable to connect 80% of the times, while the day before that I disconnected only twice during several hours of play. So random.

I hope this is what you asked me to do?

It looks like you're getting pretty horrible packet loss right the way along the route. Are you using wireless or wifi? If so please try using a wired connection and see if that helps. If it doesn't, or if you're already using a wired connection, you could try swapping the cables/ports or resetting your router/modem. Failing that you'll need to contact your ISP and get them to investigate what's causing the packet loss.
Dear Thomas,
Thank you for you reply. I'm using a wired connection that plugs into a router. But I've now switched to a different router, and then run the program again:

This seems to have solved the loss problem. But I still get the same connection errors at the same frequency. I would have also found it strange if my internet connection would have been the problem, because I have the fastest internet I can get and it's always working fine, also with games.
What I also find strange is that the game works absolutely fine, no lagg or anything once the area has been loaded. The only problem I have is when loading a new area, like when using a way point or portal or when you die and town must be loaded or when connecting to the patching server, an instance or server. And sometimes it loads in a split second, or takes a few seconds, or not at all. And sometimes I'm able to play for like 2 hours with no error, while other times I cant load a thing..

Well, your new MTR looks a lot better at least.

It's pretty strange that once you're connected it's fine, and only sometimes have problems establishing new connections...

I don't suppose you're running a lot of torrents or something? If so I guess your router could be reaching some limit on how many connections it can keep track of.

Have you had problems connecting to anything else, e.g. when you're unable to connect to the game are you still able to connect to websites or other online games?

The patching server and EU login server are in completely different data centers, so given that you've had problems connecting to both of them it seems like the problem will be something local to your connection (or potentially ISP), as the routes will diverge pretty quickly after that.
Dear Thomas,
Thank you for your reply. My 2 housemates are indeed running some torrents, but they have capped their upload speed to a small fraction of our max speed, and also the number of connections to 100.
I did some testing, and it turnes out that I always have access to the internet after a disconnect from PoA. But only when I get a disconnect in-game, so when taking a town portal or something, then I'm sometimes unable to open facebook (but I can open other websites) for a few seconds (DNS lookup error).

On the one hand, its strange that i'm able to play any other game I want all the time, independent of torrents or what not.
But on the other hand, its also strange that other people are able to play PoE without any problems.
So maybe there is something not optimal with my internet connection, but this doesn't lead to problems unless I'm playing PoE, because PoE for some reason has very high connection demands or something. I don't know, dont know much about this stuff...
