So I splurged and purchased a large Weta pet, and I thought it looked oddly familiar...and disgusting....and then it struck me, they look like Potato Bugs!
If you have ever lived in California (or the West Coast of the United States or Mexico), you'll know precisely what I'm talking about - you'll often find these gnarly overgrown beastly exo-skeletonal abominations scurrying around your trash bins, looking for waste to feed upon...they are truly horrifying to behold and literally send shivers down my spine. A cursory wikipedia search confirms that the New Zealand Weta and the Potato Bug (otherwise known as a Jerusalem Cricket) are indeed, from the same family...so they're cousins... Pffft, potato bugs can't 1v1 carrots, Giant Weta win again
 New Zealanders live in fear of finding the (admittedly, smaller) cousins of these guys in our hair while camping. No longer works at GGG
