Need advice for an axe/shield LS mara

I am starting a new char and I want to go tanky but still retain some decent DPS capabilities.

My idea is to go Lightning Strike as my main DPS skill complimented by Leap Slam (mobility) and Heavy Strike (1v1).

First question I have: is it a viable build going forward? (also regarding the fact that I am choosing to go with an axe)

I think I may need a better balance between armor/dps nodes. It is still a work in progress.


Any advice/constructive criticism is welcome. I would also love to hear progression advice regarding this build as I am going to make a new character.

i am playing my marauder very similar.

The Cyclone and Reduced Mana is just in there to level up. I don't use them.
The most attack i am using is leap slam with the support gems you can see, and i like to cast warlord's mark before jumping into a big crowd of enemies.
Also shield charge with meele splash is a good way to move fast between splitted enemies.

I'm level 42 (Cruel) and had no big problems so far - but i'm shure they will come^^
