Difficulty Level Naming

OK from my understanding the current names for the difficulty all describe the monsters:

The monsters are Hard.
The monsters are Cruel.
The monsters are Ruthless.

On that note here are my ideas:

The monsters are Adamant.
The monsters are Fierce.
The monsters are Malevolent.
The monsters are Obdurate.

That's just my thoughts. as so far what way I see it the difficulty describes the monsters.
Of those four, I'd vote for "malevolent".
I have wandered through insanity;
I have walked the spiral out.
Heard its twisted dreamed inanity
In a whisper, in a shout.
In the babbling cacophony
The refrains are all the same:
"[permutations of humanity]
are unworthy of the name!"
Malevolent is also good.
Happy Days Abound.

Yeah the final difficulty should probably just be called "The Path of Exile" :P

Hmm, i kinda like that idea. It gives it a really unique thing like this is the path of exile. A road not taken by many and eve fewer survive. Kinda cool in my opinion.

I really like zeto's idea. However, since "The Path of Exile" doesn't sound quite right (to me anyway, it's too wordy, especially when you look at the other difficulties names), what if the difficulty was just called "Exiled"? This way, you still have "the world against you" sound, but without the wordiness of "The Path of Exile". The difficulties just go:

Hard
Cruel
Ruthless
Exiled

Thoughts?

I like how the wordiness makes it stand out, but it is completely different from the others.

It'll just depend on what the dev team thinks at this point, we've essentially exhausted the thesaurus.

And everyone pulls out their thesaurus.

Really, I think ness is on to something. Instead of naming the difficulties something generic you can use the opportunity to add a little more flavor to the game.

outcast -> forsaken -> banished -> exiled

trap wins again in my opinion... haha
"turn based rpg's are for people who have sausage fingers" -me
How about HOPELESS?

It would be the scariest of them all, because even though the 3 others sounds like increasing levels of difficulty, this one conveys that there is no hope!

maybe a synonym, if this word is too commonplace?
