Can't get past a black screen

So when I launch the program, the patcher pops up, and launches a black screen. nothing else. If I click it, it goes to "program not responding." I tried uninstalling and reinstalling, and tried to open as admin. idk what else to do :/

run as admin and let it sit there for a few minutes.

NIVIDIA GeForce GTX 550 Ti

Have you previously been able to run Path of Exile on the same PC without this error occurring? If so, have you recently installed any other software or made any changes to your PC prior to this?
