having trouble with beta key...

was just wondering if anyone had any idea how to help me....i bought a key for a friend on my account but when he enters the key it tells him invalid key...? is there something im missing?

When you check your account(by clicking on your name up at the top right hand side while logged in) does it show that the key is in a Used state(crossed out and in red) or does it show the key in normal text?

it shows 2....the one im using is crossed out and the one i just bought is not
