So what has D3 actually done right?
gameplaywise?

Physics engine and better animations which make the combat feel more impactful and fun.
GGG banning all political discussion shortly after getting acquired by China is a weird coincidence.

Affixes change combat dramatically, making unique mobs dangerous. You don't fight firechains the same way you fight mortar, but nothing really causes a PoE player to have to change their tactics, other than reflects damage.
Normal mobs have higher variety of tactics and if improperly equipped challenge the player as well, wheras on PoE they all fight rather similarily and so only certain area's of the game are of any danger. PoE has done things right too, and each game excells in it's own right. We can both learn from each other if we actually bothered to try. |

The animations are nice, and the grahics are better IMO

Random "events" in most areas. This was by far the best part of D3 for me.

1. Performance. PoE sadly can't match that yet.
2. Story. While D3's story is bad, it does a far better job of telling it than PoE does. Cinematics play a huge part in this, which is directly tied with budget so it's understandable. 3. Desync. D3 seems more robust against desync issues. 4. Servers. More money = better servers, simple as that. 5. Animations. The difference isn't as big as people make it out to be, but D3's animations feel more responsive. | |
