(Sep 9 NZT) Hardcore No-Party Ladder Race

A party will always out perform a solo player, no matter what. If nothing else, you run through sin and weaver quests twice as fast, which is a big deal.

Personally I don't see the point of running party 3h races when you have 180 characters participating. Take the top 6 players, throw them in a party (100% of the time party or solo/party mix in various stages) and no one else stands a chance. Winning the race simply becomes a matter of who can get himself in a party with more of the top players, and less based on the actual skill of the player.

Once game enters open beta I can see a lot more argument for enabling partying.

That's a pretty biased statement don't you think?

There's obviously people that enjoy doing the party races more than the solo ones. It's not really even about being fair at this point. The majority of the people who used to race just don't do it anymore because it seems like they didn't enjoy doing it solo.

It couldn't be that much trouble to organize a second hardcore race for people who want to play in a party...
The problem is a second race is not that simple. There's barely enough participation with 1 race / week, and apparently running these races takes some resources from ggg. I wasn't here during the party race era, so it's possible a ton more people attend those than currently do the solo race and I can't really comment on that. What I am saying however that if you combine a party race with a solo race, partying beats solo.

So.. one race with two sets of rewards. Must have joined a group to qualify for one set, must not have joined a group to qualify for the other?

Assuming side by side races is not a solution I really like this idea sir!
You would pretty much need to have two separate ladder boards as well.

Or two leagues. Maybe it would be interesting to have two races, one party enabled and one disabled... at once. And see how people did and compare how many participated etc.

Not this discussion again :(

I found 2 uniques this race, felt strange. I don't think any gem drops though.

Played a defensive marauder build and quickly fell 2 levels back from the other marauders before Ledge. By end of act 2, was ranked 1st for about 1 minute, but was at least 15-20 minutes behind in quest progression (in A.Pyramid when NotThat hit Cruel Ledge).

I tried a2 boss with just 1 topaz ring and got 2 shot by the laser despite defensive tree, +15% resist all, and 650 hp. I am still not really sure how to rush this boss, I guess I needed to do more damage to minimize exposure/risk.

Agreed with whoever said melee is really difficult with desync issues. Why is it I have 60 steady ping, yet monsters take sometimes 1-2 seconds to die after I hit them? Feels more like 1000-2000 ms ping. This is before any burning damage buffs or anything, so I know it is not that. It is really irritating when you take 5 swings at a white skeleton and it does not go down.

The new ladder monitor tool was awesome and the flash color notifications were great.

I'm in the same boat as you, my ping is pretty constant between 49 and 60 and I have these same desync issues that you have. Resolute Technique is really frustrating when the melee mob is hitting you but you can't hit him back. :/

The good news is Chris said (in chat yesterday) that he was working on sync issues this week. I can't think of better news to hear.
