Magical Me: The Iron Caster

Another Pantsless Theorycraft:

Level 70 Marauder: This build will want to help Oak in each of the four difficulties, for +180 base life. This limits the build to 78 skill points by level 70.

Build Focus: The Iron Caster is a very tanky spellcaster, capable of sustainable spellcasting and high dps.

Primary Skills:

Righteous Fire -- This is the important one. I don't have numbers for this at higher levels, but I assume it provides 50% more (multiplicative) spell damage at level 15. For the purpose of this theorycraft, I will be performing calculations at 40%.

Ethereal Knives (+ Iron Will + Faster Projectile + Added Fire Damage + Added Chaos Damage + Life Leech) -- Iron Will, Fire, Chaos, and Leech are the important passives. Faster Projectiles (or Pierce) can be added when 6 link items are available.

Projectile Weakness -- Increases chance to Pierce (becomes important as EK is slow to cast) and provides 32% more damage from projectiles at level 15. According to the Wiki, "Because this is an increase to the damage taken, it is multiplicative with your damage dealt"

Calculations:
Note: All numbers derived from skill gems are taken from the Wiki. These numbers might not accurately represent how the skills function under the latest patch.

DamagePerAttack=26k+
EK Base Damage: 433 Average Damage per Projectile
Level 15 Ethereal Knives = 228-342 or 285 Average
Added Fire Damage = 285*1.38
Added Chaos Damage = +40 (assuming)

EK Damage Modifier: 3.365
Iron Will = +0.9
Armour = +0.065 (Average for Occultist's Vestment)
Wand = +0.18 (Average for Prophecy Wand)
Shield = +0.15 (Fossilized Spirit Shield)
Item Modifiers = +0.6 (3x Thaumaturgist's modifiers)
(Not including bonuses for other equipment)
EK Quality = +0.2 (+1% projectile damage per quality)
Iron Will Quality = +0.1 (+0.5% spell damage per quality)
Faster Projectiles = +0.17

After Righteous Fire: 4.711
Damage Modifier (3.195) * 1.4 (40% more spell damage)

After Projectile Weakness: 6.219
Total Damage Modifier before Attack (4.473) * 1.32

TOTAL DAMAGE PER PROJECTILE: 2,692
Base Damage (433) * Modifier after hit (5.9)

TOTAL DAMAGE PER ATTACK: 26,926
Note: Real damage will actually be higher than this, as there are other sources for damage modifiers beyond just what is listed, as PW provides Chance to Pierce, other spell damage modifiers may be present, and gear will also add to Strength for Iron Will.


Will update later. A few rushed notes: Build maximizes life regen and elemental resistances to minimize degeneration from Righteous Fire. Life Leech should, in theory, push regeneration to exceed RF's degeneration. If not, there's five slots for Life Flasks.

Note: This build is now dead until v0.9.12 is deployed, when the changes to passive life regeneration are reevaluated, and it is determined whether or not they are still a viable solution to Righteous Fire's degeneration.
