Why People Should Be Outraged at Zimmerman's 'Not Guilty' Verdict

He was on a neighborhood watch... And homes had previously been broken in to. It was his obligation to watch out for suspicious behavior and call the cops, which he did. When they told him to not follow, he complied and lost track of him. In route back to his vehicle he was jumped by the "17 year old black kid" and used a firearm in self defense. Also text message records were not allowed as evidence but the texts leading up to the incidence imply that trayvon was the one looking for trouble in that he was conversing with a friend about wanting to get in a fight and sending a picture of his new gun to his friend. Zimmerman is not guilty and this case should not have been brought to trial because of insufficient evidence. The police chief himself did not arrest him that night for that very reason. It's purely a race ordeal...well it was until they found out Zimmerman was part Hispanic. The media called him white anyways and lightened his pictures. By the way, Trayvon was 6'3" and Zimmerman is 5'7". Trayvon was on top of Zimmerman beating the shit out of him, and Zimmerman claims Trayvon said he was going to kill him and tried to grab Zimmerman's gun. Did you not see the pictures of Zimmerman's broken, bloody nose and the back of his head?

"There was no obvious sign of any injury to Zimmerman's head or face on the video until it was enhanced.
But Dr. Vidor Friedman, president of the Florida College of Emergency Physicians, remains unconvinced.
' It doesn't look like his nose was broken or badly broken,' Friedman said.'"
So because this one physician says that according to a low quality video, his nose doesn't look badly broken...all of what I said has no merit? How about some higher quality pictures?

You're assuming Zimmerman's account is 100% accurate. Consider that:

1)The other side of the story died with TM

2)GZ claims that he stopped pursuing TM and then TM jumped him. Does it make sense that someone with no weapons would try to jump someone that was pursuing him earlier not knowing whether his pursuer was armed or not?

3)He claims TM tried to take his gun from him, but the DNA evidence showed TM never touched the gun

4)Supposedly his head was being smashed into the cement, but his injuries were extremely minor and barely needed to be treated.

5)Keep in mind you're defending someone that has assaulted a police officer, been accused of child molestation by a cousin and and spousal abuse by a former girlfriend. Tell me, who's the real 'thug' in this story?

And it's not just the result of the trial that's messed up, but also everything that happened before it. After George Zimmerman shot TM, he was allowed to walk around for 45 days before actually being arrested. After TM was shot, rather than background checking GZ, they background checked the guy he shot and killed and just left it at that. That is messed up. If GZ had been a black guy and TM had been white, do you seriously think Florida police would have let a black guy who shot a white guy walk around free for 45 days? Anyone who honestly thinks race had nothing to play in this, is either extremely naive or a racist of some level trying to play down the event.

Okay, before you try pretending you are an expert on DNA transfer try reading this:
Meakin G, Jamieson A. DNA transfer: Review and implications for casework. Forensic Sci Int Genet. 2013 Jul;7(4):434-43.
http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/23623709
http://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S1872497313000926

It will tell you about 'Shredder status' how much somebody sheds their DNA. Just because somebody touches and item, doesn't mean that their DNA will immediately be transferred across to the item.
(it will also tall you that even if there were DNA there it could have been simply because they were in the same vicinity.)

- DNA evidence is not the be-all-and-end-all of forensic science.

Just becuase they were guilty in the past does not mean that they are guilty now. I am sure he is a complete *&%&%$ but he is still entitled to a fair trial, based on the presented evidence, NOT on past misdemeanors.

(Edit) Also - just because you have been accused of "child molestation by a cousin and and spousal abuse by a former girlfriend" doesn't mean he is guilty. If somebody were to accuse you of being an idiot, it would not make you an idiot.

Yes, the police are probably crap. But that does not mean that some guy should go to jail. it means that the way in which the police work needs to change. Over in the UK we had the 'Stephen Lawrence case' - we changed the manner in which the police worked.

the point is it shouldnt have happened in the first place, which can be proven, and can and should be punished. he was neighborhood watch, not neighborhood crime fighter.
The culprit here isn't Zimmerman, it's Florida's "Stand Your Ground" law, brought to you by your friendly neighborhood National Rifle Association and copied in other states throughout the US in the past five years or so.
"
(3) A person who is not engaged in an unlawful activity and who is attacked in any... place where he or she has a right to be has no duty to retreat and has the right to stand his or her ground and meet force with force, including deadly force if he or she reasonably believes it is necessary to do so to prevent death or great bodily harm to himself or herself or another or to prevent the commission of a forcible felony.
TL;DR: In Florida, if someone tries to start a fistfight with you, you can shoot them in the face, and you'll be acquitted.

Good going TYT , you deserve to be shut down.

While I agree that TYT is going on way too big of a parade with the whole zimmerman racism thing, but you claiming that they should be shut down because of it is so so so much lower on the scale of what I would consider rational thought.

Of course, nobody has said otherwise. But that is not what happened in this case. Treyvon was not just walking around, he was beating on Zimmerman.

"Very insignificant" injuries. That's like, scratches or maybe a stray fist. Caused by the fact that zimmerman instigated a conflict intentionally after he was told not to by law enforcement officials.

Also, for people arguing "he was found not guilty by law. get over it".
Tread topic didn't say that he should or shouldn't be found guilty, only that the not guilty verdict should be angering.

Dude got in an honest fight. No permanent damage. (Note the smug "I win" look in the top one.)

Zimmerman instigated conflict, but not of the physical variety. Martin made it physical. Making a conflict physical is now, for all intents and purposes, punishable by death in Florida, with the person you're trying to fight acting as executioner.

The problem is Florida's Stand Your Ground law. I'm not condoning assault, but the law there is tantamount to handing out the death penalty for petty macho bullshit, and that is far too extreme and demands a repeal. If you're going to lose it and punch someone, the appropriate penalty is some quality time with a probation officer, not a bullet.
