[2.4] How to smash Heads. Extremely detailed guide about the Facebreaker gloves and builds!

It's nearly impossible to do so without sacrificing your amulet slot, which is a terrible idea.

There is 41% total block on the tree for shield block.

Using a Lioneye's Remorse, you have a base of 33% block.

So if you took every single block node that isn't spell block-specific (and made a TERRIBLE build in the process), you could hit 74% block.

Bringer of Rain makes capping block possible. 33% Lioneye's + 15% BoR = 48% block. Means you only need 27% on the tree. Requires some stretching, but it is doable. The problem with BoR, of course, is that the DPS is far lower (as we're discussing) and you lose out on your chest slot, which means your armor and/or evasion is taking a hit (along with any other useful bonuses you get from armor, like resistances or unique mods that help your build).

Ok so for me with BoR 10% increased physical damage gives 750 DPS, with the new tree i'll have +60% increased physical damage so thats +4500 DPS on the current 34500 so i'll end up with ~39,000 DPS .. i don't know .. 39k dps is not that bad

For Abyssus 10% physical damage is 950 DPS, so with the new tree that's +5700 DPS and i'll end up with ~49,000 DPS

So with BoR i'll have:
+ 400 Life
+ 100 Evasion
+ 15% block chance ( reaching 73% block chance )
+ I won't take 40% increased physical damage
+ i'll have level 18 Blind ( which is not a big deal really )
+ I'll have 10% chance to gain Endurance charge on block ( which is not a big deal really )
- 10,000 DPS
- 100 armour
- I'll lose 20% AoE Radius
- I need to spend 1 passive skill point to cover the loss of resistances
- 24 all attributes ( that won't be a problem with the new tree )
- due to socket changes i'll lose level 20 Rejuvenation totem on CWDT
- I'll have to use a skin transfer because i hate the 3D art of BoR

So BoR is definitely tankier and honestly anything above 35k is enough ( for cyclone at least ) , but still that DPS loss and that AoE loss probably will be noticeable in level 77-78 maps and in the Apex of Sacrifice.

On the other hand slower but tankier is the way to go for HC and when you are level 90+ becuase dying really hurts.

In general, this is how I'm seeing the tree with regards to Facebreaker Mitts builds.

Did you use Bringer of Rain before? Enjoy your buffs!

Did you use Abyssus before? Enjoy your Nerfbat!

I'm sure there are specific cases where that isn't true, but if you were using a BoR before, you're still going to cap or near-cap your block and there is a TON more physical damage on the tree. However, if you were using the Abyssus, you suddenly lose a ton of block, negating your primary defensive measure.

That is completely true! And that's why i'm considering to go back to BoR ( i knew i should stash my legacy BoR ) ^^

So Bringer of Rain nerfed down to 6% block chance. 6% as of the latest patch notes. Ouch.

The non-non-legacy version is going to be a pitiful site to see. Just looking at the legacy version, it will be light years better. Even the non-legacy version is going to look nice now. lol

I suppose this means that Bringer of Rain might not be mandatory for Facebreaker builds in new leagues. 6% chance to block is good, but when you combine it with all shields getting their base Block chance nerfed, I don't know how you actually cap block as a Facebreaker now. Capping block might just not be viable for new leagues. I mean, I'd rather sacrifice Herald of Ash to Tempest Shield for 4% and wear Abyssus than wear the nerfed Bringer of Rain, I think.

Already nerfed BoR + only 6% block chance ... i'd say that this new BoR is not something that i would wear if i play FB in a temp league ... tho original legacy BoR definitely sounds like a good idea for Standard.

Not actually sure how you do Facebreaker builds in new leagues now, to be honest. The incoming nerf to base shield values, combined with specific nerfs to uniques, is going to require some creative thinking to build around.

Going to go to bed and think it over at this point.
