1st position level:
Duelist - 22
Marauder - 20
Ranger - 19

Shadow - 18

20th position level:
Duelist - 18
Ranger - 17
Marauder - 16
Templar - 16
Shadow - 15
Witch - 14

Ouch, seems like Shadows are having a rough time. And seems like Duelists are over represented in the top positions, I wonder if it is due to popularity or balance issues.

I suspect the Duelist thing is probably both balance and popularity. Another useful stat would be the total % of Duelists in the race, to compare to the % in the top 100, however I'm not going to sift through all 5019 entries and count the Duelists.

I'll export the CSV and see if I can do some more extensive stats.

Got to level 17.

Ill be switching to ranger until shadow gets some melee/bow options. 10 pulses with 50% spell damage to kill one white large statue? How bout no.

Till next time.

Edit: Shadow representation: 1%. Kinda says it all.

skip the statues... or use EK..

Shadow is pretty week though, I'll give you that.. takes ages to get going, and then you pretty much hit the nasty zones (statues/frozen abyss) If you can get past those, it picks up pretty quickly.

Yeah that is what I suspect as well. When one class performs well, people tend to flock to it, so it gives a biased total; Not only is the class performing well, there are more people playing it. I completely understand about not going through it all- I wouldn't either :P. Though it would be very interesting to see the total stats.
Characters:
Main Standard Char: Dinedar - Iron Reflexes Dual wielding Claw Shadow.
Main SSL Legacy Char: Nendria - Archer.

17 and a bit. No dex build really hurt my weapon options since I went cleave.
On the other hand something like 45/41/40 res at the end was nice.

the 2h axe main weapon till 16, had a pair of axes that weren't too bad as well. Spent last bit of the race eating glacial hammers... got the guy down to maybe 1/3.

A pair of large chest levels as well, Arachnid and Statue I think it was.

Unfortunately the export CSV option only exports the top 2000 entries, which made calculating the average level per class pointless (since this would not be accurate if most entries from a certain class didn't make it past the 2000th position etc). The rest of the data is also limited. The top 2000 is still a biased sample (compared to full list), so it's hard to deduce much without the rest of the information, but here is what I got from my script. In no particular order:

Witch:
% in top 100 - 5
% in top 200 - 4
% in top 300 - 5
% in top 400 - 5
% in top 500 - 6
% in top 1000 - 6
% in top 2000 - 9
% in top 2000 who died - 79.0

Duelist:
% in top 100 - 58
% in top 200 - 51
% in top 300 - 47
% in top 400 - 44
% in top 500 - 45
% in top 1000 - 46
% in top 2000 - 42
% in top 2000 who died - 67.0

Marauder:
% in top 100 - 10
% in top 200 - 9
% in top 300 - 9
% in top 400 - 11
% in top 500 - 10
% in top 1000 - 10
% in top 2000 - 11
% in top 2000 who died - 62.5

Shadow:
% in top 100 - 1
% in top 200 - 5
% in top 300 - 6
% in top 400 - 7
% in top 500 - 7
% in top 1000 - 8
% in top 2000 - 10
% in top 2000 who died - 56.0

Templar:
% in top 100 - 5
% in top 200 - 8
% in top 300 - 9
% in top 400 - 9
% in top 500 - 9
% in top 1000 - 9
% in top 2000 - 11
% in top 2000 who died - 61.0

Ranger:
% in top 100 - 20
% in top 200 - 22
% in top 300 - 20
% in top 400 - 21
% in top 500 - 19
% in top 1000 - 18
% in top 2000 - 14
% in top 2000 who died - 63.0

The % dead stat would be more interesting out of the total figure, but the near 80% death rate of witches in the top 2000, compared to the next highest (67% Duelist) and the lowest (56% Shadow) is quite high, I wonder if the same will be seen if I run the script for other descent races.

If anyone has any suggestions for more statistics to calculate, please do say (although I will be busy most of tomorrow, I will come back and look at this thread, maybe update my script before using it for other races, and/or rerun here).

and if anyone at GGG is reading this: would it be possible for the export CSV option to download more than 2000 entries? The way it is currently is kind of limiting (and disappointing).

I agree that just a sample of the top 2000 si still a pretty biased sample. Still, it's nice to see that sample compiled, and I give you a big thanks for that. It's very interesting to see that the number of shadows in the top 2000 that dies was the lowest of all chars, yet it still had the lowest % in the top rankings.

That's some interesting data right there.

Still, it's hard to determine which characters count and which don't. Would you include all of the characters of people who signed up but stagnated at 0 exp? Do you know if they even logged in during the race or not? What if people made multiple characters and let them sit there in case they died?
Participant in race seasons 3/5/7, Legacy HC, Harbinger HC, and Betrayal leagues. I primarily play homebrews.
I really wish you could see more information about these!
Like, get your ranking just in your class, or to see what level of Descent people got to.
As a stretch thing it might be cool to be able to view an archive of the equipment the characters had when they died/the race finished.
