Diablo 3 starting to steal ideas from PoE?

Recently, with the console release of D3, they have implemented a system to turn whites into something useful. On console it will turn them into gold (a chance to anyway) to save going to town over and over as, in their infinite lack of wisdom, everyone gets portalled to town in a multiplayer game.

Seeing as this is a moot endeavour for PC users they are talking about using white items for heavy crafting as base items. I couldn't help but compere this idea to PoE crafting.

Now I know GGG didn't invent this idea but they have refined it to make it one of the most interesting (and sometimes frustrating and rewarding) crafting systems on the market.

More and more I can see D3 utilizing the successful ideas of PoE into D3 to take back players they lost to this awesome game (myself included).

Which of PoE's gameplay methods do you think will become part of D3 in the future?

News Flash: Everyone steels concepts from everyone. Shit, most of the concepts found in PoE was taken from the Diablo series...
GGG listens to its fans!!! Thank you!

wait, someone still plays D3? :)

but seriously, I think the term "stealing ideas" is inappropriate. there's a pool of stuff many games did, and it's only natural the same concept will be implemented in several games in different ways.

no one holds a patent over crafting whites, or socketing, or loot tiers, or anything else.
in fact, there are a lot of things in Torchlight 2 I wish GGG "steal" for PoE, for example.

it's up to the players to determine which implementation they like better.

Shadow: That was fun
Final fantasy 1 stole their ideas from Dragon Quest 1, so yeah it's appropriate.

The feelings you feel about this "normal behaviour" may be different for each person/company.

heh no I havent logged into D3 since I started playing PoE a couple of months ago. I just keep upto date as I read diablofans. Although I don't like the way the game went faceroll I do hope that one day they will make the game as good as d2 used to be.

Maybe using the term "stealing" was a bit harsh. I understand gameplay ideas are in the public domain mostly and that development teams use methods in other games freely but D3 seems to be in a state of panic regarding the failures the game has endured but at the same time it is still a massively popular game amongst those who want a faceroll experience.
Games "steal" ideas from other games all the time. This game is basically a mix of D2 (items), FF7 (materia system), and FF10 (sphere grid).
Do you know how many ideas PoE stole from D2?

That's the video game business buddy, learn about it.
The term "stealing" is poorly chosen... and as others have pointed out, you could also say they just want to reintroduce something that was already in D2.
