I am a level 57 Marauder following Kripp's Lightning Cleave build. And I just have to say that I totally suck at this game. Well, maybe not I am level 57 in Hardcore and this is my 2nd character.
It seems really hard to get the correct gear for my build, and when I finally do get the correct gear for the build the rolls are usually utter crap.
In fact even though I am going Lightning cleave, I am still using a 2h hammer and Ground Slam because all the 1h swords I have gotten, where all trash. Literally all trash. Even the level 58 swords that Kripp recommends in the build are just terrible rolls.
I know you can fix the gear to your liking with enough orbs, but I must be the unluckiest person in this game because I hardly get any orbs. I actually thought about helping out lower levels and kill bosses in exchange for chaos orbs. I decided not to because it would be embarrassing if I died.
Obviously I know that the gems are not perfectly linked up and in the correct places, or in some cases even the correct gem. But with what I have, I thought this was best.

I am afraid to attempt to progress on my own and die. So since about level 40 I have been grouping and pretty much getting carried.
So can someone please tell me what it is that I am doing wrong? What I need to change and what I need to work towards. Because I am at a loss.

Well my first Character I made I did even worse with the skill tree. So I decided to look up builds. And I came across a website called Exile Pro. Looked the the builds and found one I thought sounded interesting.
Linking gear... click on your character portrait at the top of the website, then click on an item. It will put a link to that item in the post.
For example here is my current chest.
Specific gear for a specific build is not easy to come by with so many prefixes and suffixes, it can take a bit to find the optimal items. Just keep building your stash... currency, gear to trade or use for other builds you may want to try.

and dont ask for help in a forum where most ppl are even more noobish as you.

2. this is the place to ask for help, that's what a forum is meant for
3. to me, you sound like either a) a streamer jelly hater or b) an immature elitist

nah i love kripp he did more for poe than everybody else.
btw I know exactly what te is missing in terms of surviveability
