Possible Fix - Creative SB XF-I soundcard BSOD

So, I had this issue for two solid days where every now and again I would get a BSOD. Did some forum research and apparently it had to do with creative drivers.

All I did to fix this was disabled sound blaster enhancements in the settings and went from 24bit to 16 bit DvD quality sound, played for a solid 6 hours after those changes and no more BSOD.

this was all done with the latest drivers for my card.

I hope this help :)

Thanks for the tip! The problem is turning off Creative Enhancements turns off the surround sound effects so it's just like using onboard as far as quality. =(

But it's a good option since you don't have to plug/unplug your headphones into different jacks this way.
I'm still hoping for a perma fix, but this beats out the no sound and using the headphone method imo.

Hi,

I cant find those creative enhancements, can you please tell where they are?
Start menu > control panel > Sounds > click on speaker, then right click to open properties > go to the sound blaster tab > Disable sound blaster enhancements.

The next tab over allows you to change the sound quality settings to 16bit DvD quality also.

thank you for the reply, but i still get bsod
The latest patch should have fixed problems with creative sound cards, could you PM me if you're still having these crashes or BSODs when you next play the game?
Balance & Design
I've actually been playing flawlessly since I did this earlier.
Glad it's working for some.

I had been playing with these adjustments before patch and had it working fine, played for almost 10 hours straight with no BSOD, but alas after the patch they came back.

So i spent another 6 hours updating my PC, from bios to every imaginable driver. I've not had a crash yet today.

Time will tell. I will be back if it happens again.
