Lightning strike with multistrike?

so i got this idea after seeing kripps videon on the new support gems, a build that is focused on the lightning strike projectiles. As i understod from the video, the projectile dmg isnt reduced from the multistrike reduction, it only effects the melee hit of lightning strike. is this true?

im considering skipping manaflows and going bloodmagic supportgem instead?
