The future of PoE with Chris Wilson - Podcast with @Mathilification
Lol at PoE being a game where you're "supposed to make your own builds" in a league that just made that impossible for 99% of players. So was the vision a lie before or is the vision a lie now?
There was a meme years ago in Hearthstone about a lead dev saying that there was a unicorn OP deck of a terrible class (Paladin? Shaman? I forget) just waiting to be discovered, if only players put enough time and effort into finding it. Time kept passing and that class was still the worst class by a mile and wasn't used in any tournaments by anyone at all. Eventually the dev said there was never an OP deck, just that there COULD'VE been. That's the same thing Chris is saying. It's meaningless. The only discoveries waiting to be found these days are exploits. Everything else spreads pretty fast. |

" It's the hyperbole of someone saying "PoE being a game where you're "supposed to make your own builds" in a league that just made that impossible for 99% of players" that nets you zero support. If you really have specific problems with the league, then state them, so we can all discuss it. This has been a problem for a long time now when it comes to nerfs and changes; players want to rightfully complain they don't like something such as a nerf but refuse to actually articulate the precise problem, let alone provide any sort of solutions TO that problem. Case in point was the harvest nerfs. MANY people here quite literally claimed 'many builds will now be impossible', and I asked these people directly in their threads to NAME the builds that are now impossible. What did I get in response each time? Mostly no response at all, with the occasional 'ggg shill'. Anyway my point is you're not helping your cause by saying something that's blatantly false, just for effect. If you really do feel so strongly about this league and the changes, then point to specifics and why they don't work. |

" they just want you to play more so maybe you'll buy some mtx also, chris hopping on podcasts is just PR/damage control... you can disregard most of what he says in them "Now I am become Death, the destroyer of worlds." Last edited by _wuv_#1477 on Sep 13, 2021, 7:56:16 PM

" I think GGG is missing out on a non negligible number of potential paying players by ignoring them. This crowd wants to be able to feel like they are progressing even with and hour or two a day average. POE needs a more chill and streamlined ladder(the game is absurdedly bloated as they want to reuse as much as possible rather than combine some past systems and item types). Just don't bother with leaderboards for it. What Chris is excited about for hard mode, casuals would be more excited for with casual mode. If they keep ignoring them they will lose them to LE, Lost Ark 2 and D4. |

" they just need to realize their game, and standard league, is nearly a decade old... just leave it alone lol "Now I am become Death, the destroyer of worlds."

" +1 People on here and reddit don't seem to understand the difference between a bad player and a casual. For some unknown reason, they think that X build, or in many cases, any build needs several exalts worth of gear to function in white maps and beyond. These players are also very keen to blame their lack of progression due to "lack of currency" rather than poor mechanics in a game that is literally just run in circles and dodging slow, telegraphed boss attacks (excluding certain encounters with modifiers). Agree with your other points too. " What is this based on? I just helped two people out yesterday that made it to Act 8 running completely terrible builds. Multiple main skills, useless equipment, useless weapon and passive skill trees that would make you want to rip your eyes out (i.e. taking every single closeby passive, regardless of whether it impacts their build at all). Preach is also playing unguided and is level 85 on flicker beserker. Now, if you have even a bit of experience with the game, say 1 league experience with using POB, you should be able to put together a build that will clear at least up to a8 on any "viable" skill (probably 60-70%+ of skill gems). If you can't do that..because you either have zero experience (which is fair enough, but also I don't think the point) or zero knowledge because you blindly followed builds and made no effort to understand mechanics or interactions, then thats on you. Considering one senior member delights in devising ways of killing players shows PoE isn't a player friendly game, it doesn't matter what build GGG recommends as it'll get killed anyway. GGG only want 'hardcore' players, new players aren't welcome unless they stay around long enough to reach maps and RTM. GGG's instance on not having QoL and relying on 3rd party support will eventually result in a game played by a 'hardcore' minority. PoE2 won't change this.
