% mana increase and blood magic

So, i'm gonna roll a templar battle mage type of deal but i was wondering if i should go blood magic with him then.
Is a caster even doable with bloodmagic, or is bloodmagic purely a melee type of thing. Also doe %mana increase passives affect your healthpool if you end up with blood magic? or are those passives wasted then? IGN: syndoomthrower
