Why did you choose to support?
Loved D1 and D2, waited for an age for D3, then a wee forum post waffled on about Path of Exile. Had a nosey, and liked what I saw. Signed up, fingers crossed for the timer to pick me.
Long story short, bought the $10 pack, then noticed that I could get a kiwi pet! Cha-ching, had to get that so decided a bronze kiwi was a bit of me. But the thought of giving a bit more for the guys slaving away to make this game got the best of me. Buying NZ Made is always a driver for me.... Yeah no, I have no keys left. Sorry to disappoint.

Pre-ordered D3 many months ago, pre-purchased GW2 (which I loved), but had some free time to spend until May 15th, so I got recommended to check out PoE and after reading up on it I never hesitated to fork up a measly $10 to "try it out" in Beta.
Needless to say I am still playing PoE and loving it. Played through Act 1 in D3 last week and am in no way feeling an urge to play it again right now. I will most definately upgrade my package soon as the dev team is worth every penny for their efforts. Don't care about the fluff I'd get, but the keys are great for convincing my D3-addicted friends to get with the program here :) |

Saw this website while not being able to log into Diablo 3.
Looked at some videos and then got the $10 supporter pack straight away. This is a blessing compared to Diablo 3. Much more innovation and I like the gem and potion system much better. It looks better than D3 as well. Now my biggest problem is that I am angry at Blizzard for charging £45 for their crappy game that I have no intentions to play anymore after trying Path of Exile which is sadly only at beta stage. Also NZ is so great with great people. I might give some more money soon. My only concern is the Free part as it usually attracts a not so mature bunch of people. Looking at the global chat shows signs of this already. I hope you guys can manage this somehow. Keep up the great work down there! |

Intrigued by the passive skill tree... then tried the second open beta weekend... got pretty hooked, and any game I play more than 10 hours or so over a weekend deserves money anyways, so decided to support...

Well, played the second stress test weekend, loved it to bits. So I bought my brother the $10 pack. We played the next day. Then I kept seeing kiwis around, and I really wanted a map of wraeclast... so I upgraded to silver.
Gave a key to a friend, got him hooked as well, and now am enjoying the hell out of it with 'em. Really, I had a few games that I was DEFINITELY going to buy this year, and Diablo 3 was one of them, but after seeing it...it just doesn't compare to this IMO. And that skill tree....MY GOD. I really love the ability to do what the hell you want with your class and the fact that the game is actually challenging. I also really like the gem system for some reason. And I have a fair few kiwi friends and LOVE NZ people =P Dat accent. So yeah. Thunderstorms and Sugar

I did it because I just wanted to support the ARPG genre which I think is having its first major renaissance. The genre needs as many competing games as it can have to perfect itself and thrive, and PoE definitely had some interesting innovations from what I had seen. I loved the idea behind the potions system. I loved that it wasn't easy, and the crafting system, and that they tried to do the currency system in a rather unusual way. The game designers weren't afraid to try new things while clinging to a familiar formula, and that's exactly what I wanted to see.
Also, CUSTOMIZATION. This game is the king of that. |

Well, I'm coming into this thread a bit late, I don't usually watch the General Forums that frequently, I spend most of my time in the Beta feedback areas. Though, I came into the game as a whole a bit late, I didn't even really find out about it until April.
Anyways, I figured I'd chime in. I've been a fan of this genre since my early teenage years, I remember having to convince my mom to buy me a copy of Diablo as a kid, under the pretense that I'm killing the demons, so it's not so bad right? Great success, and thus began a glorious addiction to hack and slash RPGs. Diablo 1 and 2 will always hold a special place in my gaming history. I feel like Blizzard advanced the genre in Diablo 2, adding in great features like more class differentiation, the skill trees, etc. Really for me the skill trees is what made the genre greater. Thus, you can probably imagine my disappointment when Blizzard decided to remove them in Diablo 3, in my opinion regressing the genre, rather then advancing it further. Then comes along path of exile, check it out a friend tells me. I go to the website, start researching it, come across the passive skill tree which BLEW MY MIND. This, combined with the skill gem/materia style equipment was enough to make me decide I had to try this game, and wanted to support what it was doing. I initially bought a Silver package, mainly to get a beta key, but also because I wanted to support this style of progression in the genre. I played the game for 2-3 weeks, and became more and more impressed as I played. I took my time before deciding to upgrade to the Diamond package. This was purely out of want to support GGG and what they have done to advance the genre. If I could have chosen a direction to take it, this is pretty damn close to what I would have hoped for. I'd be a liar if I said that the Diamond Kiwi wasn't great, or that some of the other options were compelling, but at the end of the day it's really all about doing what small piece I could to help ensure this game sees release, and show the industry that people do want complexity and depth in their games, not a dumbed down experience that takes options away from the player. Long live player freedom and choice. I feel like PoE gives me as much freedom as I could possibly ask for. I hope it is around for a long time to come. Diamond Supporter since 2012-04-24.

I actually registered with this game at start time but foolishly I did nothing about it back then.
So yes I am or was rather a D3 hardcore player .... but was enticed over here again (from a D3 forum post) because it was not fun anymore the gear you have to progress being way to expensive... so D3 is about economy. So I looked at the forums here and noticed a huge difference in attitude, here it is all good and praise and you even get answers from the developers.... in D3 it is all complaints and NO answers... I will upgrade my support to GGG as I progress :) I have a kiwi :) cute little thing as I am a Kiwi anyway but I want the really shiny one |

" This^. And the fact that they're independent, and gamers like the rest of us. It should be a fun ride! |
