Energy Shield for Templar

The Templar apparently receives Intelligence-related bonuses to Energy Shield. But I have yet to find a Skill Gem for Energy Shield. Only some objects seem to give it. And they're fairly weak objects I'd rather not use.

How about if I go in the Passive Skill Tree and get Energy Shield there? Is it the skill? Probably not, because the Circle for Energy Shield is all the way in the Sorceress' side and it says +8% Max Energy Shield. So is it really worth it to spend my Templar points to get there? I would need 8 levels to get there.

Energy Shield isn't a skill, my friend, it's a form of defence inherent to some items. There are, in fact, three such forms of defence.

Armour, being the STRENGTH defence, is pure damage mitigation. Think of it like damage reduction from D2.

Evasion, being the DEXTERITY defence, is a chance to avoid damage altogether. I believe it might be calculated first.

Energy Shield, being the INTELLIGENCE defence, is a sort of life-on-top-of-your-life bonus represented by the blue crescent around your life globe. The thicker the crescent, the more your energy shield is eclipsing your life. Think of it like shields for the protoss from Starcraft.

You will find different types of gear that give different bonuses all round; there are even some armour types that give all three, but of course have stat requirements in all three.
Warhammer 40k Inquisitor: where shotgunning is not only not nerfed, it is deeply encouraged.

Dogma > Souls, but they're masterworks all. You can't go wrong.

I was right about PoE2 needing to be a separate, new game. It was really obvious.
Oh OK I get it ::- D. Thanks for the clarification!

You never noticed what that blue light over your health orb was? :O

I've been playing for 3 hours ::- D so take it easy. I noticed it and guessed what it did.

However, I thought that I can get it as a skill not only as an effect of an item ::- ).
