there are THREE Diablo games? I just thought it was Diablo to the 3rd power. What black magic has happened here?! All the things I want to remember are in the places I'd like to forget.

The diablo timeline is tricky here is what I know. First there was prince of Persia and then Prince of Persia 2: Diablo. That was when they made many of the design decisions that followed them through to the titular game just called "Diabo" which is actually prince of persia 3. Diablo 2 was actually the first game that broke from the PoP storyverse which in a way makes Diablo 2 the real Diablo 1 and Diablo 3 the real Diablo 2.
