3.9 Caustic Arrow - Budget/Beginner Friendly!

Shameful Plug

Intro
Spoiler

Hello all! Caustic Arrow is a great skill to use as a league start, or for doing the most difficult of content!

In patch 3.9 Caustic Arrow received this buff
Now deals 8.8 base Chaos Damage per second at gem level 1 (from 7), up to 1927.1 at gem level 20 (from 1714.8).
Now gains additional radius as the gem levels, up to +6 at gem level 20 (from +3).

For more information on different ways that you can change the build, and for my reasons on why I did not do them, watch the video I made!

Gems
Spoiler

You will want all of your Caustic Arrow gems as well as your Toxic Rain gems at level 21 and 20 Quality if you can. Caustic Arrow gets a large damage boost for each level, which is why our bow has +# levels of socketed gems, as well as an Empower

Main things to look for:
Increased Life
Increased Chaos Damage
Increased Damage Over Time
Increased Area Damage
Increased Projectile Damage

Explanation
Spoiler

Bow

Main stats: + level of socketed gems.
Secondary stats: chaos damage over time multiplier.
Lastly get attack speed and increased damage over time. Get attack speed until you feel it is comfortable to cast. I found that attack speed of 2+ to feel the best.

Quiver

Main stats: Pierce Implicit, life, damage over time multiplier.
Secondary stats: Resistance, attack speed

Body

Main stats: Life, resistance
Secondary stats: Evasion, dex

Boots

Main stats: Movement speed, life, resistance
Secondary stats: Evasion, dex

Helm

Main stats: Life, resistance
Secondary stats: Evasion, dex

Gloves

Main stats: Life, resistance
Secondary stats: Evasion, dex

Amulet

Main stats: Life, resistance
Secondary stats: Evasion, dex, chaos damage

Rings

Main stats: Life, resistance
Secondary stats: Evasion, dex

If you are not using a Witchfire brew or want to copy me completely get one ring with curse with level # despair on hit. Makes it so you don't need to rely on casting a flask (even though your a pathfinder lol). I found that it procs only for enemies that are immediately hot when you attack, not the ones that walk over the caustic puddle.

Belt

Main stats: Life, resistance
Secondary stats: Chaos damage, evasion, dex

Flasks
Use Witchfire Brew if you do not have a ring with Despair on it!
Other than that use what you want!

Spoiler

Here is a quick breakdown of leveling I used. (I removed the part where I used Toxic Rain totems for a while then got rid of them, feel free to try it. It is in the POB)

I will show the links I would use if you have them available. If you cannot link all of the ones I show then leave out the most right side and insert it somewhere so it can level up.

Ascendancy
Spoiler

Pathfinder

1. Nature's Reprisal
2. Nature's Adrenaline
3. Nature's Boon
4. Master Toxicist

If you are to do this build and want maximum DPS choose Trickster.
If you want to do maps super fast choose Deadeye.
Pathfinder is a solid midpoint between being fast and doing increased damage. Nature's Reprisal is one of the best points, which is why I rush it. It allows for bonus damage and larger AOE.
Nature's Adrenaline and Nature's Boon are both great for consistency of flasks. They work super well together and make for a smooth playstyle.
Master Toxicist gives us a small amount of DPS and is the weakest of the 4 points. You can opt for Master Surgeon for more life recovery from flasks but I went with the DPS instead.

Pros/Cons
Spoiler

+ Easy/Fast Leveling
+ Not Unique Dependant
+ Cheap can go into red maps
+ DOT damage allows us to focus on evading
- Evasion/Squishy
- DOT damage, not immediate kills
