Orb of alteration small change

If it's possible, can it be possible to change Orbs of Alterations so that it changes the magic item depending on the prefix/suffix?

An example of that would be to change an item that has a prefix to change to another prefix, an item with a suffix to change to another suffix and an item with both a prefix and a suffix have those changed, instead of completely changing the item entirely
