Spell totem sustain?

I've been looking at older build with spell totems and I'm currently trying my own creation out in blight. I wanted something fun and I'm enoying the skills you can put on it.
But I'm having a somewhat problem with sustainability since the spell totem regen/Life gain/leech goes to the totem itself. Anything I'm missing that will help out? When I take a big hit, say 3.000dmg, it takes too long to regerate with flasks and regeneration. This makes me vulnerable for a long time and Death follows with next big hit. Compared to my crit phys slayer who leeches like a god and you never even see a dent in his HP pool... Last bumped on Oct 2, 2019, 9:26:25 AM

" Hey there, your flasks are pretty bad :) Try to spam alteration orbs on them and get instant life recovery. Something like this. Maybe a flask guide would be useful: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=isrXLCLbm_M Your slayer probably got away with pretty bad flasks, but not this guy :) Cheers |

you might also want to consider rerolling into chieftain or scion, for the ascendancy:

" This is sad tho, that the hierophant kinda forces you to go MoM and massive mana. I just did a 5 minute testing with scion and changing from Lightning spell to a firespell (chieftain ascendancy gives fire dmg). Much better both with the damage, Life regen and totems give leech. This without changing any gear that probably isnt optimized for annother build... Back to the drawing board! |

A few easy options;
MoM as you already listed - Stack hp regen (10-15% will cover most things, you shouldn't be getting hit much with totems anyway) - Life gain on spell hit ring + cwdt ball lightning/firestorm/bv - The Agnostic from Militant faith jewel (still requires decent investment into mana - Stack es everywhere - 2 instant flasks to panic spam, or the unique ones that give full heal with a downside - Trolltimber shield for leech Last edited by Nubman#6211 on Oct 1, 2019, 6:54:43 PM

why u didnt pick up "illuminated devotion" and "arcane blessing" ? they are quite good defensive ascendancy.
I'm doing a spell totem build too. I did kill the uber elber. You will always be a bit squishy with an hybrid ES/life build but u can do almost everything in this game. also, your pantheon is fully upgraded? better flask, better life pool (less unique, more rare items,) etc.. have you thought to Eldritch Battery + Mind over matter? " If you're a Heirophant, why are you using a multi totem support gem? You can already have 4 totems (5 with a shield). You could swap that out and get more damage IMO. |
