So who would be willing to pay 5$ (USD) for just the beta key?

Hahaha are you serious bro? Its just $5. Dont be that cheap. If you are willing to pay $5, then another $5 shouldn't be a big problem.

For you, maybe.

Don't be that ignorant, if you have plenty of money it doesn't mean everyone else does.

That is exactly the way it starts out. "Oh come on. It's just $5. It wont matter".

These $5 wouldn't matter. But if I had spent $5 this way or that way in the past they would have added up to a pretty big pile of 5 Dollar bills by now.

Or in my case ~3.5 Euros. And since I quite strongly oppose that type of spending I still do have that pile of "just $5" and I plan on keeping it. It really is Grinding Gear Games' loss.
WoW.. I love the ungrateful attitude of some people.

People cried out about donating and being given beta access. So something was set up for it. Then people come on here and complain that it should be cheaper for it.. What a load of BS. It's not about whether you can afford it or not.. it's about how much is it worth to you. If beta access isn't worth $10 to you then please STFU and go back to fapping to your free online porn collection until such time as you receive your free beta invite.
All Im saying is $5 is not plenty of money. Just skip lunch for a day or something.

Yes, thank you for your comment. Your level of Self-righteousness or "feeling of (usually) smug moral superiority" http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Self-righteousness is quite on par with my supposed ungratefulness. I really am astounded.

I think the issue is they don't want to sell a beta key. This is a prepurchase. If you don't want the points, that implies that you don't actually intend to be a customer so they shouldn't be going out of their way to get you early access to the game anyways (five dollars or not).

No, it just implies you'd rather spend 5 dollars to get into the game than spend 10 dollars and get the same thing + something you don't necessarily want yet.

What you don't want (100 microtransaction points) is the base of their whole business model.
They control the valuation of their intellectual property and name their prices.

If you aren't happy with that, either wait until the open beta or the full release, or alternatively, play something else. You aren't a potential customer for this type of business model if you're asking for lower price brackets, since the developers will rely on microtransactions once the game is released.

...and you still don't notice what you're doing. Are you really that dense?
